I've uploaded my latest revision (1.2) of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Cumbres Pass route. There are minor changes to the route from the previous version - mostly to get rid of track database problems that popped up when I was aligning a couple of sections of track in the Chama yard and at the Cumbres depot. I've also added 2 original structures - the sand house and the oil house at the Chama yard. The two included activities use Fozzy Bear's lovely K36, and several other add-on rolling stock files (listed in the readme file). The easy activity is the run from Antonito to Chama, with a single K36 loco. The return trip requires double-heading the K36s (I've used No. 487 twice, rather than requiring everyone to download both locos). Even with the extra power, it's a challenge to make it up the hill, but I've tested it and it can be done.DO NOT use the CTSRR_Fix or CTSRR_Patch files with this route. I will ask that they be removed from the file library to prevent that from occurring.I expect to cut back on any signficant building for a while, due to extra fun at the paying job, but hope to add some more structures in the not-too distant future. Eventually, I'm interested in re-doing the route using 3' track, but that's a ways off yet.Andy

RE: CTSRR Update Uploaded

Thank you. Being a talented person, I would suspect that you can't understand how much it means to us slow learners and otherwise dead heads that you share your art with us. My 1st or second post was to a wish list and I suggested the CTSRR. Have a nice break and happy rails to you - until we meet again!

Sounds good. I'm still working in the older version, so probably won't download the new. All my hard work will be lost! Thanks for stickin' with it.

RE: CTSRR Update Uploaded

Thx for the route upload.....Just as an FYI. I decided to try the challenging activity with the double loco's from the Chama side.
I got an error telling me that I needed the #483 K36. Went back & downloaded it & both my loco's on startup were #483's. I haven't tried the other act yet, so it may or may not be looking for the 487.Just a heads up.

RE: CTSRR Update Uploaded

You're right - the post should've said "483." I also said "487" in all the readme files, too, so there's going to be some confusion among all the folks who use the route. Doh!Andy

RE: CTSRR Update Uploaded

A really beautiful route: congratulations!I just started exploring it, after overcoming the consist problem: I simply replaced all 483's by 487's in the two consist files, which is much quicker than downloading the other loco.Michael Vone

I also found that a "toltec rock.ace" file was missing from the route's TERRTEX folder. If that happens to anyone else, just copy it from the route's TEXTURES folder. Really a great route, and great rolling stock!Michael Vone

Andy , this is a wonderful job and, when used in conjunction with those K36's, the experience is nothing short of brilliant. As a matter of interest, I've gone through my collection of RGS/D&RG 'stock and have changed all the default sounds to the "dzug" package as created by a Mr. Hibu, in Germany, and uploaded to this site by Richard Boehringer some weeks ago.The overall experience of running a K36, hauling appropriate stock, is stunning and well worth the small effort of editing .WAG files.
I recommend this small, yet significant, change to all and sundry as it will enhance your experience enormously. In the meantime, for anyone contemplating whether to download both the route and the two K36 packages, here's a couple of shots to help convince you..... CTSRR Update Uploaded – image 5

What sounds? How are they different? Thank you very much for any additional input.Andre Ming

RE: CTSRR Update Uploaded

Look for file dzug.zip in the Sounds section here at Train-sim.com.
The file is 569.937 bytes in size. The following is the "readme" from the file and can probably explain the use of the sounds better than I can .............
======================
These sound recordings for external passenger cars sounds are outstanding! The groans, brake squeals and running sounds are some of the best heard. These files comes courtesy of hibu@gmx.de in Germany. Mr. Hibu was kind enough to give me permission to upload to www.train-sim.com files section and are authorized ONLY for that site. How to use: Unziping should deposit all files to the "common Sounds" folder in the "trainset" folder. Or, unzip to a temp folder and manually move to the "common Sounds" folder.NOTE: The following must be done using WORDPAD that comes with all Windows OS. To be on the safe side make a copy of the .WAG file and move it to another area (like your desktop.) Follow this VERY carefully, we take no repsonsiblity for screw-ups! To assign these new sounds to a passenger car you must type or copy into the .WAG file the following replacement statement:Sound ( "../../common.snd/dzug/dzug.sms" ) For ease of multiple use the previous can be copied and deposited in the proper location of the .wag file. This line will be found most likey at the bottom of the .WAG file page and replaces a line:SOUND ("GenPassWagSteam.sms") or similar!
After replacement, "save" the file in WORDPAD.These saounds can be added (in the same way) to any or all your passenger cars.========================================
Well worth the small effort involved in editing each .WAG file, believe me.Bruce.
