Jul-20-01, 02:35 AM (EST) "New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" I´ve added 2 new screenshots of my route from Singen to Radolfzell. The route is in an early state of development, but when it´s finished, it will lead from Zurich (Switzerland) to Konstanz. Is anyone working on Switzerland trains or waggons? Screenshots of my route on this site:http://2xsline1.homestead.com/GreetingsRomeo2XS Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-20-01, 06:51 AM (EST) 1. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Finally, a German rail route ! So far your project looks very good, and I wish you the best of luck for your work. However, a question on my behalf (not meant as criticism): Is it possible to design alternate catenary masts, e.g. German, Swiss and Italian ones which look quite different from the U.S. style "gate" masts, for Train Sim?

Jul-20-01, 06:58 AM (EST) 2. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Hello. Thanks for the track, i'm currently working on the swiss freight car Ucs (2-Silo-Wagen) which needs some more tweaking before release. But then I'll go over to modelling the Lok 2000 (Re 460), the workhorse of the swiss federal railways.Greetings,Rince Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-20-01, 07:47 AM (EST) 4. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Hello Rince,That sounds good, i can´t wait to drive the Lok2000 on my route. But one question: How long do you need to create a passenger car or freight car??? It must be hard work.... do you use 3DMax for creating your cars??GreetingsRomeo2XS Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-20-01, 07:43 AM (EST) 3. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" It´s surely possible to create alternate catenary masts. I´m not happy to use US catenary masts on my route, but as long as i haven´t learned to create own masts, i will use the US masts.I´ve read somewhere in the forum that other people are working on catenary masts, perhaps there are some german or switzerland in development. If anyone has experience in creating catenary masts, i would be glad, if he could help me.GreetingsRomeo2XS Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-20-01, 09:33 AM (EST) 5. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" LAST EDITED ON Jul-20-01 AT 09:35 AM (EST)Yes, i'm using 3ds max for the construction of waggons. I found a book with plans and pictures of all swiss freight cars and one with all locos (plans of locos only in side view unfortunately).
The textures are from digicam shots from a local railway station.I think i've spent about 20 hours on the freight car so far and it will take another 10 to tweak everything. Texturing the round silos has been the most time consuming step so far. Modelling and conversion is simple compared to that.I think that the Lok 2000 and passenger cars will be easier to medel and texture because of their simple shape compared to the silo wagon. My dream would be to drive the Lok 2000 with custom cab view and some SBB freight and passenger cars (IC 2000 most preferably) through switzerland (from Zurich to Singen would be great ).
btw: Are you from Switzerland or from Germany?Greetings,Rince Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-20-01, 11:24 AM (EST) 6. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Hey, this silo waggons look really good !!!I´m from Germany and live in Singen. But Singen is located about 10km away from the next switzerland border, so many trains from switzerland arrive at our station. Also many italian trains arrive in Singen, perhaps you know the "Cisalpino"....wonderful train!I think it will be a long way, to create the route to Zurich, but in the near future, i will manage this. Currently i have designed the main route from Singen to the industrial area of Singen, soon i will include Böhringen and then Radolfzell. These will be the first part to be released....After this, i will design the route to Zurich, but i´m still searching for track plans and other information materials about this part of the route.Greeetings Romeo2XS Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-20-01, 11:50 AM (EST) 7. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" LAST EDITED ON Jul-20-01 AT 11:53 AM (EST)HelloThe S-Bahn from Zurich goes to Singen, right? That would be a good route/train combo. I drove through Singen twice by ICE and I know the Cisalpino quite well because it is on my commuter route. What kind of track information are you looking for? I guess maps aren't that hard to find but have you found DEM data yet?Is the city on your screenshots accurate or just built of the stadard buildings from MSTS?Greetings,Rince Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-20-01, 09:05 PM (EST) 9. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Hello Rince, just getting home from a party, so forgive me if i write nonsens...I haven´t found DEM Data of my route, but i´m still looking for it, but if there is nothing available, i will try to design the route as original as i can. The buildings are standard MSTS objects, perhaps, if i have plenty of time, i will design own buildings. So far for now....i´m really tired, i hear my bed calling.Greetings Romeo2XSBTW: Are you from Switzerland ? Jul-20-01, 11:55 AM (EST) 8. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" It sure is interesting to be able to see so many foreign rail vehicles. I think (no offense meant, just an observation) there's much more contrast between European railways than between those in America - especially regarding rolling stocks - and that's what makes them so interesting to watch.Regarding your mentioning of Italian trains, if anybody could make the ETR 450 first generation Pendolino (a really handsome train, I think...Italian design, what would you expect? ) and maybe a E 424 Italian electric loco with its distinctive three-sided fronts with the door in the middle, that would be great!D.M. Jul-20-01, 09:08 PM (EST) 10. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Yes, the Pendolino would be an interesting train on my route, but i´m honest: i´m not very skilled in creating new waggons or trains...(unfortunately). Perhaps someone else will create a Pendolino, which we can drive from Singen to Zurich....would be great.Greetings Romeo2XS Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-21-01, 05:36 AM (EST) 12. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Hello,Yes, i'm from Switzerland. As a student living in the countryside i have to take the train to Zurich everyday (2 hours a day). I guess thats how i got interested in railways.I remember that i looked for DEM data already when i had the idea of making an addon for Fly!. And i havent found any free source. But i will keep on looking.Greetings,Rince Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Ah, that's a beauty, eh ? BTW, these photos also show the Italian-type catenary masts.

Jul-21-01, 10:30 AM (EST) 14. "RE: Oh Pendolino, Where Art Thou???" HelloThanks for the pics. One more pic from me. I went to the library today and found a book called 'The swiss railway network' or something like that. In it i found lots of tables, maps and this here:
Might be of help for the complete Singen-Zurich route. The book contains all swiss tracks in this form.On the left you can see height in m.ü.M., then the elevation profile, distance ruler, track scheme, blocks (+), station names, distace from station to station and the kilometer posts.Greetings,Rince Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-21-01, 05:17 PM (EST) 15. "RE: Oh Pendolino, Where Art Thou???" Wow, i´m really impressed... thanx for the rail track plan. Unfortunately the rail plan shows the old route to Zurich via Etzwilen... The last train on this route ran in 1996. Before this date, there were only freight trains running on this track. A long time ago, i think until 1969, passenger trains were running on this route, but the SBB closed the route cause the route from Singen to Zurich via Schaffhausen is more efficient and faster....On the other side, i think after finishing the route to Zurich via Schaffhausen, i will design the old route to Stein am Rhein...its only single-tracked and there´s a wonderful bridge near "Hemmishofen", which was built in 1875 !!! On the homepage of Hemishofen, you can see the brdge. http://www.hemishofen.chReally beautiful... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-21-01, 06:17 PM (EST) 17. "RE: Oh Pendolino, Where Art Thou???" Hmm, the 'wrong' plan. Unfortunately i could not lend the book because it was too big and i was at the library by bike.Have to go there again next week anyway. And I guess time doesn't really matter, does it? So Singen-Schaffhausen-Winterthur-Zürich would be the right one. I already wondered about the line being single track but these days a lot of S-Bahn double tracks get converted to single ones (like the S9 for example).Grüsse,Rince Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-21-01, 08:55 PM (EST) 18. "RE: Oh Pendolino, Where Art Thou???" Hello Rince,i´ve just found some pictures of the S-Bahn which runs from Singen to Konstanz... perhaps you know the "Seehas"?I´ve also found an picture of the cockpit... Would be great if someone can design this train. Perhaps i will try it, i´ve just downloaded a special version of 3d Canvas. It is free and without a timelimit! And it supports the file format of MSTS.If anyone is also interested, here´s the link to download:http://www.amabilis.com/MSTSBeta.htmAnd here are the pictures:

Jul-26-01, 07:10 AM (EST) 19. "RE: Oh Pendolino, Where Art Thou???" Hi folksI'm working already at the Seehas. I have a lot of pictures as my father is working there. The picture of the cab isn't from the 566 series for sure. This one is from the new vehicles commuting between Rdz and Stockach. I went to the 566 cab and made lot of pictures. The cabview is nearly done. The only problem is Makeace as it doesn't support bmp over 512x512. So the cab looks very bad in MSTS and you can't read the instruments.
I'm too working at the shape.Regards Dominik Giugno Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-30-01, 06:11 AM (EST) 23. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Hello Rince, okay, then it's a Kolibri although i never heard of this name before.
Do you intent to build this train for MSTS? Did you read my previous message? Because i'm working already at this train and i'm nearly finished with the 566. (if you don't know: That's the wagon with the motor etc.)
Perhaps i will post a picture here tomorrowregards pddog Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-30-01, 06:35 AM (EST) 24. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Hello pddog58No, i wont build it in the near future. I'm still working on the silo wagon (see above) and would then like to go over to the lok 2000.
However i'm very excited about your model and i will make a repaint in the blue/grey scheme of the SBB if you didn't plan to do this already.

Jul-30-01, 11:01 AM (EST) 25. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Hello Rincei have a big problem with exporting my shape to MSTS. if i go the usual way (conv3ds without problems -> txt2uni -> ffeditc_unicode) my shape simply don't show up in MSTS. I tried to use a car from MSTS and changed the s and wag files. The whole train is visible but guess what - my wagon not. I tried also to change the material names (SolidNorm, ...) But it doesn't help...Any ideas???cu pddog

Jul-30-01, 02:50 PM (EST) 29. "RE: New Route from Singen to Radolfzell" Hi RinceThe textures are all handmade....nearly all. You won't believe it ... I went to our station today, armed with a handycam and took a few minutes of video. Then i imported the video via hauppauge to jpg. I could use a lot of that material for the textures. I painted the rest by hand on my graphics pad and reworked them in Photoshop.
For the cab view i used the same technique. But i'm not quite glad with the cab. And i decided to go to work on the train. But as soon as the train is finished i will continue working at the cab (hope that M$ will release a better ace utility till then)
