First the good news! It doesn't mess up your system. The neutral news: it doesn't seem to do much to frame rates, but there seems to have been a buffer included, so I now never go above 57FPS on any route (61 before), but the average seems a lot better, i.e. it remains stable in the 40s to 50s for most of the time, without the wild fluctuations I was getting before. The bad news: It has done nothing to improve the sound on audigy 8500, and the graphics don't look any better. It doesn't stop stuttering. Is it worth installing? Overall, probably not. Better to wait for version 9BTW, this is the first microsoft download that came as just a set of zip files, that I have ever seen before. And it took me ages to find a way to install it. (ie find the exe file).David
