I hate to bother you but I was wondering if you have had any problems with the latest version of thr Whitefish Widowmaker. I keep getting a "failure to read database file" on the np_38567\US240FTB_np2.wag file. Do you have any suggestions as to how to fix this. Thanks
Jim

Run it through Con builder if you have Con Builder. Use the test option, select Wagons, checkmark the candidate, and start test. If you don't have Con Builder (or it shows no errors) drill down to the trainset, verify there is indeed a folder named np_38567 and that in that folder is a file named US240FTB_np2.wag. If there is such a folder and there is such a file, open the file with wordpad (or some such) and verify that the Wagon statement (the first statement in the file) is US240FTB_np2 in the form:wagon ( US240FTB_np2 ) Brad Meyer

There is no wag file us240ftb_np1 or _np2 in the folders for NP_42290 and NP_38567.What is more, be very careful before renaming the wag files as in the activity file more than half of the references for the NP_38567 are for us240ftb (i.e. the _np2 suffix is missing).I have merely altered the activity file as the references are all in respect of loose consists. My copy is attached should you wish to use it. Back up the original on your system altering the .act to .org and add the attached. That should do the trick.Bill EDIT - forgot to add the file

>NP_42290 and NP_38567. That's your problem then. The consist file is looking for an object it cannot find. The next question is just what _is_ in folder NP_38567.>What is more, be very careful before renaming the wag
>files as in the activity file more than half of the
>references for the NP_38567 are for us240ftb (i.e. the _np2
>suffix is missing). I wasn't suggesting renaming the .wag file. My point was that the .wag file name and the Wagon field in the .wag file must match or the unit will not be seen. Further, the consist file calls each unit in the consist by is folder name and Wagon field from the wag file. If those two items do not mach their respective entries in the consist file, when the MSTS attempts to load the consist, it will error out.Brad Meyer

RE: Yardlimit

Pleased you have managed to get it to run which is more than I and others I know about have. Our sticking point seems to be the fact that it looks for a file that is in the place it is supposed to be but cannot see it.I appreciate all the work Yardlimit has put into this and am pleased for him that it seems to be runnung on a lot of systems. Unfortunately it doesn't on mine or the others I have heard from but, nil desperandum, I will attack it again when I have 10 days off work later in the month and do not have the distractions of work to contend with as well.Bill

RE: Yardlimit

There was/is a thread on this problem and others, located in the activities forum. Run a search for Widowmaker and you'll find your problem dealt with, along with other info needed. Good Luck.
