I noticed these on ebay now, auction ends in 1 hour. I happen to already own another copy of the same set and its pretty good. All 3 cover the same material, an quick introduction to preparing, firing, and driving a steam engine. vol 1 this is demonstrated by a small tourist RR (Monticello & Sangaman Valley).
vol 2 is done by crewmen of the Northern Nevada, the Southern Pac, and the Union Pac (844)
vol 3 is two shortlines and the Norfolk WesternBasically all seven segments of the 3 volumes feature the same idea, first the fireman and engineer describe what all the levers and gauges do, and then we have a cabride demonstration. In vol 1 there is also a good description of the basic design of a steam engine with cutaway views, etc. Originally by RVP in 1980, and perhaps now out of print, at least I can't find it new on the internet.
