I donwnloaded the beautiful Qianjian steamer, and noticed that it uses the Flying Scotsman cabview, including the vacuum brake system. Is this locomotive set up to use vacuum brakes, thus making it compatibile only with rolling stock similarly equipped?Anthony
I have downloaded the Qianjan and immediately put it to work pulling an air-brake train of rolling stock, so I guess that it must be set up to be compatible with air brakes. Truthfully, I never even thought about the Scotsman having vacuum braks, since the cabview is used with a number of other steamers. One question I might pose for anyone more knowledgeable than I. Are the real-world Chinese steam engines set up with the engineer position on the right side, or the left side, of the cab? Dan
I don't care for the Scotsman cabview; preferring, instead, the more sophisticated Train Artisan Hudson cabview. Someone correct me if I'm wrong; however, as I recall, I can remove the default Qianjian cabview folder and replace it with the Hudson cabview folder. I'd appreciate a comment from someone who knows for sure. Thanks.Anthony
Anthony, You can use any cabview as long as you make sure you put the name of the new cabview file into the .eng file of that loco. Open the .eng file, somewhere in the middle it will say CabView etc delete the scotsman and type in the new one. Use the outside view numbers from the new one too. Ted
In fact, we are busy making the cab for Qianjin, correcting the .eng file and sounds. By then, Qianjin will never be freeware! We will give its value back!
Gentlemen, The latest issue of Trains Magazine has a great story on steam railroading in China and the subject steam locomotive class is mentioned! I'd like to take some bragging rights regarding this locomotive...on October 19th I started a thread about this loco motive as I was so very impressed with it and I'm happy that other steam locomotive fans have found it aas well!
