Hello. Quite a few engines require ESE 2.0, which is now included in a TrainsArtisans package for $40. Is there a place to download the engine without having to buy the entire program? Thanks.

RE: ESE

not legally no. they have removed the free version as that train is part of american classics. as much as those of us who don't have the free ese (i do but that's besides the point) that want it, it is no longer considered free anymore and distribution of the ese via e-mail or something like msn, is not looked on too well upon by TA. sorry to break the news to ya, but this topic comes up quite a bit here this is usually the same type answer given to all who ask that question.ESE – image 2

RE: ESE

Thank you for answering. How sad. If they offered a free engine download and I liked it, I would have purchased the whole thing. Pity.

RE: ESE

Not sure there is a problem here. I presume anyone who got it for free can pass it on. There was no restiction about it when I got the free version.David

RE: ESE

DABut that is contrary to what TA, the owners of that model, have expressly stated is their desire.... They infact released the Lt. Mountain with a free cab so that people who don't have the ESE payware and can't afford to buy it could use all the freeware that uses the ESE v1.0 (which was withdrawn) that is available...If you want to pi$$ in their cornflakes yourself, do so but don't encourage others....Chuck Schneider

RE: ESE

I have no intention of doing anything nasty to their breakfast cereal! I was just stating a fact.I have had a load of free stuff from them including the last MSTS update, so if their choice is to go payware, I accept that.It is still a pity, that new people on here now have to pay. TA produce some of the best trains available.David

As I remember it, the ESE was offerred as donationware and those of us who D/L'd it were asked to donate to one of several funds directed to the September 11, 2001 families!

RE: ESE

Yes and I donated £100 to my local Oxfam if you care to go back that far. I felt that was far better, than spending a fortune on postage to the USA.David
