RE: Ohio Rail Newsreel

Hi Rich,The OR&W is clearly the route of choice where we've been test running John Fowlis's soon-to-be-released Berkshire. I've been hauling a consist of 40s-50s freight cars, with TA's Nickel Plate caboose of course, over the main line. Barely made it up some of the steeper grades. The best thing is your route is so wide ranging I still haven't been everywhere yet!Rick

RE: Ohio Rail Newsreel

Joe the engine driver realised there was trouble a brewin with the PO&N railroad when a crack team of PO&N graffiti ninja's struck vandalizing his new locomotive, it was a sad day for joe as he took his loco back to get it repainted, but as they say thems the breaks.
But he did know how envious the PO&N chairman must be even considering they were in different states.Cheers
Leith

RE: Ohio Rail Newsreel

Good timing Mike.. I was just on my way here to put up the announcement.... *clears throat*Leith Platten's WV&O Rollingstock has arrived!! *kermit the frog waving arms* This is some of Leith's best stuff yet. Adapted from Justin Cornell's original Ohio Rail paint scheme introduced with Justin's GP38 and GP40, Leith added some extra kick to the paint scheme and the WV&O look gorgeous in the sim. I maybe a little bias here but this is just one of the prettiest paint schemes I think there is. Never mind that goofy guinea pig-dog-cat pony show you've seen elsewhere , this is a paint scheme for real railroading (even if the railroad is ficticious!). Uploaded at 7:10 PM EST at avsim.com look for this file in a couple of hours or tomorrow in the What's New section of the file library or under MSTS Adventures.Major thanks to Leith Platten for an exquisite offering for Ohio Rail. Please see the individual loco and rollingstock folders for credit and copyright info.Rich Garber

RE: Ohio Rail Newsreel

I'm real glad for that award. I shouldn't say all of this but that puppy there is one of the things that gave me inspiration to troop on with the editors. Having been a member of avsim for a long time and just another average member of the massive flight sim community, I never thought a train 'thing' would be recognized for such an achievement but it was still worth the try I thought. An award like that is given to only the best of the best. I'm still in awe of what the flight people have done over the years. I see pictures that sometimes I can't tell for sure it isn't real. So for the folks who've contributed to Ohio Rail and myself, it's a pretty big honor to get that award twice. It also showed me that you never know whose looking at what you've done. I wasn't aware for the first time that the route was being looked at until it was nearly done. And this time I didn't know it was happening again. It's the first time I know of that our work on the Ohio Rail was officially recognized by any site. So that's pretty cool considering the popularity of avsim and the numbers of people who frequent there. Like I said earlier, I'm real glad for Dick Van Den Hoven, Dick Cowen, Leith Platten, Frank Musick, Don Hughes and a host of other people because a big route like this is too difficult for just one person to get done all by themself. Being able to draw on the talents of so many has been one of the blessings of route building. Most people understand that Ohio Rail has been a community effort reaching beyond borders. All in all, it's been pretty cool working with the folks I do and producing Ohio Rail.Rich Garber

RE: Ohio Rail Newsreel

Great work Rich, you and the other contributors have outdone yourselves again. This route really recreates a place and time in a very convincing way. The easy installation and the steam add on pack made it simple to get things up and running, very impressive. Thanks for putting the time and effort into this for the benifit of us all.Cliff

Rich,
I'm going to register a COMPLAINT, just to give DTA something to grouse about, You and the Troops have given us to much to deal with.
"Old Reliable" is so good that you have forced me into spending a lot of money on a new machine to run the OR properly! Everything is SUPERB! Am still running on the East Metro as well. Thanks for the gift!

David,
And how is this forums version of "Graham Norton"? As always David it is nice to read your witty comments! Sniper...You couldn't hit the broadside of a barn and with only one leg I can lay down and roll faster than you can run!John...Sniper's visit was great tonic for fighting off the doldrums and phatom pain even tho he is but a wee bit of a little mean man!
