MSTS does not seem to have made any progress since the first version, the dynamic brakes hardly work. Does anybody know how to fix this? I don't think that Scott Borchart's upgrade will work, or will it?
I hope they noticed hitting backspace does not put the train into emergency nor can you dump the independent.Very nice engine, smooth.A question: couldn't a person move the camera just a touch to the left so you can see out the front window better? Not much, just a couple inches.Bob
Just came to me in the shower; you can put the camera anywhere on the engine, correct? So, when you hit the left arrow instead of looking at an empty chair couldn't you put the camera near the front window looking forward? Like you are leaning forward, just like in a real engine. Now that would be realistic.Just a thought.Bob
There are 2 better solutions for this, you can get dynamic brakes with Peter Baker's dynamic brake files, or you can get dynamic brakes and more realistic performance all around by using the version 4.1 physics by Peter Baker and myself. The file name is sdphy41.zip. You can simply copy model size description and the lights from your SD40-2 model into the files from the physics update. You may also want to leave the brakes with ("TrainBrakesControllerGraduatedSelfLapLimitedHoldingStart"). Either of these files will yield better modeling of dynamic braking than Scott's version, because there are some bug's in the MSTS dynamic braking physics engine. Peter came up with a good way to get around this, and to get a much better curve fit to actual braking performance. Bob Boudoin
