I had installed Sky Conductor, installed the "fog banks" environment for rain, but now the env. for rain stays like this! I cannot get it back to normal. The fog env is so dark I cannot see much. I have tried everything, even reinstalling TrainSim. Any help? Thanks!
When you say you cannot get it back to normal have you gone into Sky Conductor and changed the settings back to default?I have never had that problem with it - in fact have never had any problem. Also if you have reinstalled trainsim it might SC might not even be picking up that the route is to be controlled.Only thing I can suggest is that you uninstall SC, check that none of the env folders in any of the routes have any files in them beginning hitw (and if there are delete them) then reinstall SC and add the routes using the 'add route to Sky Conductor' option in the How In The World folder on your Start menu.Bill
Well, I tried what you said. Removed SC, did a search and deleted all hitw files and I'm still getting the same thing for rain. Even after reinstalling SC and telling it to use a different setting. Looks like another compelete delete and reinstalled of MSTS and SC.
I don't believe the original env files are altered but just additions made by Sky Conductor.I should have mentioned you need to get rid of the hitw files in the envfiles\textures folders as well.As always back up anything before altering. If this does not work then move the envfiles elsewhere and copy the originals from your MSTS CD2 - open each routes cabfile in explorer and copy across everything in the envfiles and envfiles textures.Bill
The original environment (*.env) files should be stored by Sky Conductor in a back-up folder that it makes under it's program application folder. But this may be lost cause of re-installing. Sky Conductor does modify the original *.env files, that's why it keeps a copy. The modifications are mostly changes to the filename references, in other words, saying use different files that SC puts in the TEXTURES directory. So it's not really critical to delete all the HITW-*.ace files in the TEXTURES directory. The original ENV files simply won't point at them. The real solution is what's been proposed. Find the original ENV files and get them into the ENVFILES directory for each route. (Very Important: With the Original names.) The original ENV files reference the original ACE files in the TEXTURES directory (which have got to be there, with all those re-installs).Jeff
Thanks Jeff, I hadn't noticed that before. The original files are stored in a folder within Sky Conductor called z-default.Even with reinstalls it may still be there or in the recycle bin.Bill
