Hey all: I just got the PO&N Version 5 and it when I drive a train there a few track shapes that dont load-a tunnel switch, a 10mtr straight tunnel and a tunnel 500r curve. Why does it do this-I cant thikn that no one else would have had this problem-how do I fix it?Thanks
That's a new one. If you're getting "unable to find texture" or something before the shape files fail to load, it's possible the batch file didn't run automatically. If you have WinXp that sometimes happens, nobody has yet figured out why some people have no trouble with XP and batch files, and others have nothing but. Open explorer, go to \Train Simulator\Routes\Portogden5, find the file named "instalpo5.bat. Select it by left clicking on it once, then RIGHT click on it, and choose "open" from the pop-up menu. You should then get a DOS window that opens, and depending on your system speed will copy files for 3 to 5 minutes from the default routes. Like most add-on routes, PO&N5 requires a full install of MSTS, with all six of the default MSTS routes installed in the correct folders, since the batch files copy from \Europe1, \Europe2, Japan1, Japan2, \USA1, and \USA2, so if you don't have a full install of MSTS it won't work.If all that does what it's supposed to do and you're still gettting errors, possibly there's something wrong with your global folder, and you might need to re-install Train Simulator. The track shapes themselves are all in the \Global\Shapes folder, or should be, and if it affects one route it should affect them all. There is a 10 meter straight and 500r curve tunnel section in \Global, but there's no tunnel switch section anywhere. You never know what kind of wierd error messages you're gonna get with trainsim!
I was having the same problem with Bodiddly. (I had all six default routes, etc.) Some Tunnel 's' shape files missing. (looks like at least one your mentioning, too.) Kept hitting enter, and the route would load. Everything would run normally, untill I came to a tunnel needing that particular missing shape. My trains would run correctly, but in a white void, until I came out of the tunnel. Of course, Boddidly was the only route it was happening to. So.. I tried reloading. Tried copying all 's' files from the default routes into Boddidly. And into my Global\Shapes folder. And vice versa. E-mailed. Posted questions. No help. Finally, just fooling around, changed track texture files from NEC to Japan. No more error messages! What is happening is that every every time I approach the affected tunnels, the interior of the tunnel looks like the white void for about 5 feet, then resumes normal tunnel appearance. Why???? Who knows. Posted more questions, got lots of helpful, logical suggestions, and none of them worked. Anyway, try changing your 3 track textures to the Japanese ones. Might help. Good Luck.
Hmmm, common denominator, maybe? I don't have the latest bodiddlys since I'm hacking away at PO&N6 and can't keep up with Rich, but unless he repackaged for Route Riter he was originally using EZstuff4 as a template for his batch file. There's one line in EZstuff4.bat that copies \Global\Textures into the route, which normally don't hurt anything, but if you installed the L2 route the subway tunnel textures were copied from that into \Global.Quick slick fix idea, here's a batty bat:http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d6f9e836cb169b6.zipDownload that, unzip, paste into \bodiddly RR or \portogden5, double click and see what happens. That should fix either route if the \Global folder is the problem, give you European tracks for bodiddly (unless he has custom tracks in a \custom folder) and the PO&N5 track txtures in PO&N5.If that works and everything is hunky-dory, try this: Download rusttrak.zip from the file library. Unzip, copy the \Textures folder out of \Rustytrack, paste it into \portogden5, answer yes to overwrites. That will give you a little taste, the PO&N6 track textures. You can do the same for any route, altho I don't advise doing it to the default routes, sooner or later you'll have only one track texture. If you must, copy (for example) \USA2\Textures\Acleantrack1.ace and Acleantrack2.ace to a backup folder, paste the \Textures folder from \Rustytrack into \USA2, and if you like the original Marias corkbed better you can copy the originals back in overwriting mine.
