nope, and that's not the problem.. because when I try it under XP, it does the full names, and then locks up (as every batch files does, whice is why i install under 98)

Taking a look at the icons assigned to the *.ace files, I'd say you have installed a copy of WinACE (or WinRAR) archiver on your machine and it has decided to associate all file extensions with the *.ace designation to itself.Files ending with *.ace are interperted as archive files to WinACE, just like *.zip file archives get associated with WinZIP.Too bad MSTS uses the *.ace extension for a graphics file extension.

yeah I have winRAR, But that's no reson for the batch file to act trippy and try to make everything into the dos standard, because this is a first time this has ever happened to me, I had the old ohio route without a problem, I installed countless routes with no problem

RE: Help! Major Ohio Rail problems!

This won't be of much help. You seem to have a common problem with XP and your current OS,as far as bat file running is concerned. Are they, the OS's fully installed?
I ran with ME for months, and it was only when I tried "upgrading" to XP,that it informed me that ME had not been installed completely. That's when I decided to "clean" install XP.
As far as Ohio Rail is concerned,I had no problem with the bat file running,it auto ran with my XP,despite warnings that I may have had to run it manually.

Have you tried going into folder options (on the View menu in 98 I believe) clicking on file types and seeing if .ace files are associated with anything? I have just looked at mine (in XP) and there is no association. If your system shows .ace in the file types you could if you wished delete it from the file types and see what happens. Whether this will affect WinRAR I couldn't tell you. The decision is up to you. Normal disclaimers apply Presumably this happens with your other routes as well? If not then something strange is going on.Bill

Fixed?

Help! Major Ohio Rail problems! – image 7

well I tried again to run the batch file under XP, this time I minimized it, and did something else while it was going, and it didn't lock up, so Yes I now have ohio rail installed, but i'll remember these suggestions If i need to try it under win98

RE: Fixed?

Real glad you got it going Shawn. My poser for tonight is to work out why NNJ is all of a sudden not showing up in the routes list.Strange experience with XP - others seem to have the same trouble as you getting .bat files to run. I have never (yet!) had a problem. Really don't understand it as they are all straightforward i.e. no Choice options or anything. Bill
