A shameless plug, but I have found some great train videos. A man in Tucson does it all, and sells them on his website, www.traintapes.com.I've looked all over for train videos, and while most charge close to $30 for 1 hour of trains, he charges nearly the same for 2 hours, and sometimes more. Most of the video's are in VHS format, but just recently he upgraded and now offers DVD's as well.Just got done watching Cajon yesterday, and after watching the video, I can honestly say they did a great job reproducing the route. Also offered are most hot spots throughout the west, and a few in the mid west and Northeast.Heres a few titles I have, and have throughly enjoyed.Tehachapi, up Oregon Blues, UP Triple Track Main, Winter in the Wasatch, Marias Pass, Mojave Magic, BNSF accross Arizona, and a few others. If your looking for great train tapes, check it out.Cheers, Chris

Yeah, I love his tapes, I've been buying them for about four years now, and have talked to him on the phone a number of times. They are very high quality and not all cheesed up with music and animations like Pentrex. Try the "Hot Spots" series, very enjoyable.

Yes, I've talked to him as well. This is a man who loves his job! I like the fact that his tapes and DVD's truely give you the feeling of being there, as all you hear is the train roaring by.I have Hot Spots 11, Tucson, and plan to get a few others in the midwest to fill my CSX need.Cheers, Chris

Agreed. I've got about 20 of his tapes, all are very good. Be sure to check out the (relatively) new "Winter on Marias Pass".

Oh Boy, thanks for pointing this site out to me, I can see I'm going to be investing some of my hard earned money with him in the near future. James.

I've got 13 of his tapes and each one I've watched about twenty times. Next ones to get are: Winter On Marias Pass, Sandpatch, Buffalo & Pittsburgh, Hot Spots 6 Gary, Indiana and Winter on The MRL.

Yeah, that was something, wasn't it? I just got back from a couple of days at Tehachapi. Took my video camera and did some filming for the first time. Definitely not anything near professional, but it was kind of fun anyway. Did get some pretty nice footage at the Loop, while resting the camera on a signal post.

Cajon is great too. I used to go up there (pre-merger) a lot, haven't been for awhile though. I was talking to a guy I met at the Loop yesterday, and he was saying that Cajon has changed a lot now. After that SP runaway in 1996, security is a lot tighter, they put a fence up at Summit, etc. Be sure to park at Sullivan's Curve and walk up the north track, some great rock formations and scenery. Be sure to bring your camera! I used to stay at a campground about 3/4 mile south of there. Brings back some great memories.
