Unfortunately, there is no known DEM available for Canada, for free, which is of high enough resolution to be of any value for MSTS. All high-res Canadian DEM costs a small fortune to buy.I am also on a hunt for Canadian DEM data, or an acceptable alternative. So far, it has been a long, frustrating, and thusfar unsuccessful journey.Ray
PS: I'd be delighted beyond belief if someone could prove me wrong!!

RE: where can the NON-US modellers obtain their DEM for

Many times, when you are looking at digital elevation data (DEM), there will be something like 10 meter, 30 meter, 500 meter. Those numbers tell you how far apart each elevation reading is from each other. In other words, 10-meter DEM, has elevation points recorded every 10 meters (~30 feet). 30-meter DEM, every 30 meters. 500-meter DEM is every 500 meters--half a kilometer. That is the resolution of the DEM at the link you provided. Therefore, if one point is read at 5 meter elevation, then the next point will be 500 meters away. It, too, could be 5 meters. But between those two points you could have a very pronounced hill! It would not show. The main point is that 500-meter DEM has to "coarse" of resolution, and the chances are you will not like what it produces. The resolution that you want to find is 30 meter or 10 meter. I believe that the resolution in MSTS is 8 meter (JohnCS, is this correct?). But, 30 meter looks just fine.Lawrence
