Just wanted to see how realistic you guys can make some of your screenshots. Here is mine. Its NS train 342 which operates on the NS Washington District but is now running on the PO&N. It is setting of a UP engine at texas tea for the refinery.

Awesome Pic! by the way what route are you on? I see the statue of liberty in the back awesome. great pics everyone. I have to run MSTS lower than 100% standards cuz my comp don't handle the frame rates. so my game looks kinda blurry and stuff I'm plannin on upgrading to a huge system with the best stuff available. then maybe I can run on seaview 2 with more than 2 frame rates at 30% out of 100% of the ad. display. Those bottom two screenshots look like the work of Sky! Conductor 2.This makes the sky much more realistic-looking, especially during rain storms where there's an added rain-drop sound effect.

When you upload a file, you can either leave just the filename in the attachment box as-is (with no address, just the name), or you can cut and paste the name of the file right behind

Ha! Start a "most realistic screenshots" thread using shots from the Port Ogden and Northern?! Haven't you heard? The PO&N is an unrealistic fictional model railroad style route, can't get realistic screenshots from that! RE: Most realistic screen shots (post them)

Hee-hee, that was satire, Engineer_Kyle, little dig at some of my critics.
Transcon, there are a number of tricks to getting good screenshots, I turn my detail & quality settings up all the way, turn the Nvidia mippmaping to best quality, then shoot at 1024x768x32 bit. The next trick is the best hundred bucks I ever spent on a graphics program, Jasc Paint Shop Pro. I open the scrgrb#.pcx, edit, copy, resize to 800x600 or 850x620, edit, paste as new selection, and center the image to crop what I don't need. That way I get the 1024x768 resolution in a smaller image, and there's usually nothing at the edges that you really want anyway. After that, export, jpeg optimizer, compress by 50%, will usually get me under 100kb.
PSP7 also has some cool special effects too, maybe I oughtta try some on a trainsim shot.

RE: Unrealistic screen shots

Here are two more of NS train 22G which runs by my house now on the po&n. By the way sniper the gantry signals on the po&n wont clear for double stack movements. Thats why I dont have any on my train. No big deal but how can you raise them to clear the double stacks even though the stacks just past right through them.pic 1- After picking up the UP engine set off by train 342 at texas tea the units pull out onto the main.pic2- After cresting the hill 22G is about to give the rails a nice clean polish.

Well, I got Sky Conductor to work, and I decided post these shots. Sky Conductor never fails to amaze me. Most of these shots were taken on the SCL A-Line and some were taken using the default activity that starts out in Uceta Yard and from there I used the ahcked 7 key cam.

RE: You're all wet.

Your driving looks like it's probably better than 2000 monkeys with typewriters could manage, Scott.
Geepster, you gotta be careful driving in that Sky Conductor rain, it can have lasting effects even after you turn it off. Most realistic screen shots (post them) – image 125OK, OK, just having a little fun here. Where were we? Realistic screen shots?
Most realistic screen shots (post them) – image 126
Eh, not too bad. Still think these old ones are pretty good:

Most realistic screen shots (post them) – image 130Oh yeah, saw a couple questions in here I almost missed;1. Weeds are weeds.zip (simple, hey?) in the file library, for placing individual weeds put a bush on the track, and lower it into the terrain until just the top sticks out.2. PO&N is PO&Nver5.zip in the file library. It don't look as good as some of the screenshots, since the track textures are before the infamous Scott Miller breathed his voodoo magic (or was it Nvidia magic?) on them. Most of my screens are from V6, scheduled for release as soon as I can get it done. Yeah, yeah, I know, quit goofing around in here and get back to work on it. 3. For more realistic tracks, rusttrak.zip in the file library.

RE: Most realistic screen shots (post them)

When the lumber company moved out five years ago, we set this old Geep on the abandoned siding to get it out of the way. The property has been bought and a new company moved in that will need the siding once again. After alot of foul language and a half a day or so of tinkering, we got her purring ( more like sputtering ) again. After a good looking over and an air test she'll be on the way to the shops for rebuilding in the CF7 project.

Cheers,
Randy

The placement isn't very realistic but then this was just a test of my very limited (so far) route editing skills....here's something I threw together on the default Europe 2 route...(just to test out the new refinery peices......did'nt wanna screw up any of my beloved US routes...hehe. gonna put an even better one on the FBL, East metro and Ohio rail routes...heheMost realistic screen shots (post them) – image 140Most realistic screen shots (post them) – image 141Most realistic screen shots (post them) – image 142Most realistic screen shots (post them) – image 143

RE: Most realistic screen shots (post them)

It's a custom route being built completely from scratch - we're making the Southern Pacific Coastline route. What you are seeing is the Train Artisan GS4 4449 leaving the old 3rd and Townsend station in San Francisco..it should be pretty fun - we've got lots of surprizes planned for this route based on some new features that we've discovered that you can do with MSTS......Check out www.trainartisan.com for more info...Most realistic screen shots (post them) – image 149

Starting third thread down, went way off topic and completely changed the subject with the new idea. Still working on it tho, gonna be a couple weeks before the package is ready. The bad news is they're static scenery objects, cloned from John Milligan's "dumb tracks", so they have to be placed on top of the actual track section and precisely aligned and elevated to just cover the default track textures. Most realistic screen shots (post them) – image 169
With all that I doubt that anyone other than experienced hackers with the route editor are gonna be able to make any use of it, no way for the casual user to add it to a route, since it absolutely requires wrestling with the route editor to use them.
The good news is also that they're static scenery objects, so can be installed in non-Xtracks routes, don't require any mods to the global folder.

here's a shot of an actually track section im making (not static scenery) I'm making it to use in my yards and by stations where the frame rate really doesn't need to be too fast anyway. Most realistic screen shots (post them) – image 170
