RE: CAJON PASS (ALONE AT THE TOP)

I couldn't agree more. I just ran over Tehachapi, and after a brief crew change ( and re-load Cajon route ) at Mojave, I was off and running across the desert at 60 mph. Made it to Barstow in 4 hours from Bakersfield. Just waiting for the green light so I can get my 83 car Intermodel train down into Riverside.None of this would be possible without 3DTS.For those of you who still don't have the route, my heart goes out to you. It really does. Trust me though, the wait is well worth it. You are getting a top notch, well though out, well planned route.Bravo Brad and 3DTS.Chris

Well, since my suggestion for a Train-Sim sponsored award didn't get much support in the General forum (that is to say, none at all ), I will take it on myself to do the honors.I hereby award the Train Simmy for Outstanding Achievement in Route Design for 2002 to 3DTS. As good as KHP is and Sandpatch is likely to be, I don't think this is jumping the gun at all. This is a superb route and worth every penny paid (to PayPal ) and every day spent waiting for the mail to arrive. Thanks Brad, Marc, John and everyone else on the team.

RE: CAJON PASS (ALONE AT THE TOP)

I have almost every commercial route worth mentioning and I'd be careful before awarding anything to anyone. Cajon Pass is a very good route but it is definitely not better as for example "German Railroads - Biggetal" route. The towns and villages along the Cajon Pass route should've been better done. The rest of the route is very good.Barney

RE: CAJON PASS (ALONE AT THE TOP)

Your right Barney in regards to the scenery, but given the length of the route, and the heavily populated area in which it operates in, it would have taken a very long time to do the route in true form. Also consider the FPS. They used a lot of static and plain buildings to fill in the scenery to help keep the FPS down. Also keep in mind that they did put in some nice buildings through out the route, but if they were to have custom made each building, the FPS would kill the route.I'm still waiting for my copy of German Railroads.Heidi Express is another nice route with good scenery. It's a short 100 KM, but given the area it operates in, with all the curves and mountains, your speeds will be down to give you the chance to get some enjoyment out of the route.Chris
