Just finished uploading the Berkshire 2-8-4 cabview for MSTS on RailDriver.com. Our thanks to Dennis Braid at the Michigan State Trust for Railway Preservation. Visit his web page to learn more about the Pere Marquette 1225 we used to model this cab. We still have some artwork to finish, adding rust and heat stains to the boiler, etc. But everything should work. Please download at will and let us know what you think of it.

Downloading it now. The screenshot looks great. If it's anything like the mogul cab, it will be a real winner.I've been waiting a while for some more steam cabs, and now the last few days have turned into a double-barreled bonanza. Thanx!PaulSBerkshire 2-8-4 Cabview now available – image 3

I would like to know what is the round spoked wheel in the lower right?
If it is a reverser, is this common on American engines? I thought they all used a Johnson bar or lever arrangement.

RE: Screw Reverser

Pere Marquette 1225 used a screw reverser. According to Denis Braid, curator of the Steam Railroad Institute this locomotive was designed as a main line locomotive where changing reverser often was not necessary. He also said that if the locomotive was used for switching it could have be fitted with a johnson bar type reverser. Locomotives of this size always had some type of power assist on the reverser mechanism. A locomotive the size of the small mogal we modeled used direct mechanical drive but larger ones like this had a steam cylinder to help drive the gear. I hope this helps. We have a lot more data I could dig up I you need any more. Thanks

The Berk is not the only orphan engine in Train-Sim world. The N&W 611 has not been made yet!!!! I SAY LET HER STEAM AGAIN!!!!Berkshire 2-8-4 Cabview now available – image 10
