I ordered the route on July 20, received today Aug 14.
Synopsis so far.
Installed ok. Went to the activity editor. Found 2 broken paths right off the bat which I fixed with no problem.
Entered MSTS and started checking activities. WARNING here, The SD70m and SD75m Engines had a problem with the CABVIEW not loading. I found one Cabview folder that was missing the .CVF file and also had the wrong cabview files in it. I just copied over the cabview FOLDER from another proper engine and fixed some syntax errors in some of the .ENG files and every thing was ok. This is not very good for a comercial program. Those of you who don't know how to fix these sort of things will be out of luck until they come out with some fixes. I did not see any on their website YET.
One I got it running It was VERY GOOD, good looking engines, and good looking scenery. I think every one who gets it will like it, EXCEPT for the Errors That came with it. VERY FIXABLE by the way.!!
JOHN

RE: Cajon Pass received Today

John, Although you said it installed okay, did you experience any problems while installing? I got my copy today as well, but I can't even get it installed. The first few times through I'm getting decompression errors with the snow track textures. Thinking that maybe my CDROM drive was coping out, I tried my CDR drive. That got me a little farther until it got a .raw file. The drive was seeking like mad for more than ten minutes, until I went into the task manager, 'program not responding'. I'm going to keep at it, but right now I'm not a happy camper.MattSP Coast Route

RE: Cajon Pass received Today

Marc, After some more trial and error, I'm not sure what the deal is with my system. I've tried two SCSI and one IDE CDROM drives and I get different results with each attempt. Out of sheer frustration I fired up my laptop to see if I could copy anything from the CD, which by the way is fine, no scratches, smudges, or what not. I was able to copy the setup file off the CD, moved it across my home network to my main system, and was able to launch the setup program which did its business without any errors. I launched the first activity and was able to play for about twnety minutes before encountering the TS repeating sound bug which then gives me the send/don't send dialog box. Other than that, the only issue I've seen thus far is with I'm assuming is the default dash-9 unit. When I put the headlight to full, the main headlight goes very bright, but only one ditch light comes on. No alternating. Passed an AI train that had all the lights on. Looks great from what I've seen thus far. Will do some more running later.Matt

RE: Cajon Pass received Today

The SD70 you mention - that was no doubt the two stray SP locos that have cab images, but were originally set up as AI. These were then replaced with the SP files in the 3DTS_SD70M folder. The two SP folders are not used, but were left in by mistake. Only an error that they were included, not that there was something missing. Consider them freebies. Not sure what to tell you about the broken activity paths...The activities ran without issue on a separate install here. Did you try the activities in the sim before jumping into the editor?Cheers!

RE: Cajon Pass received Today

No!, ran the Editor First. I check before I run as I have "sometimes" found MSTS bombs if there are ANY broken Paths. The paths I fixed were for SERVICE "BNSF Q-sbdkc", and Service "BNSF yard transfer 2". Maybe they are not used??
Also The Cabviews I fixed were for SD70m's/ SD75m's used in default activities. Hey, NO big deal for me, but could be a problem for Newbies. John

RE: Cajon Pass received Today

I believe those services were removed from use - and the locos you mentioned aren't used in the activities, located in the folders 3DTS_SD70mAI, 3DTS_SD70SP, 3DTS_sd75_bnsf, and SD70M-SP...these were replaced with the locos in the 3DTS_SD70M and 3DTS_SD75M folders. As for newbies, most wouldn't consider the editor until a problem arose, nor find fault with a loco that wasn't there. Nevertheless, we should have looked more carefully at was included to prevent confusion. Sorry for the hassles.Cheers!

RE: Cajon Pass received Today

The activity that crashed on me was "EASTBOUND Q-Train" which says it uses 3dts sd75m bnsf. This activity gave me a "Cabfile failed to load" message. After that I edited the folders and fixed it. Somehow.
Bottom Line!! GREAT ROUTE-GREAT TRAINS-A MUST HAVE!! John

RE: Cajon Pass received Today

John- the locomotives, are they the ones Marc pointed out as freebies, or are they the actual loco's that were suppose to come with the route. The route was to include 3 UP SD 70, and 2 SP SD 70's.I hopefully will get mine tommorow. I'm not worried too much about the minor glitches thurs far. This was a big project by these guys, and is bound to have a few issues. If it is true that the loco's in question were meant to be AI, but instead wound up as driveables, than with a little work, we can have a few more SD 70's.Have fun John, you lucky dog.Chris

RE: Cajon Pass received Today

Hopefully no one will get their hopes up for the extra locos...FWIW, they were early betas of the finished versions included - they look OK, but aren't quite up to snuff compared to the finals.Cheers!

RE: Cajon Pass received Today

Ok, here is the deal. There are 2 folders for the SD75's.
One is "3dts_sd75_bnsf" and the other is "3dts_sd75m". The 3dts_sd75_bnsf Folder has 1 eng file Where the Cab file is referenced to "sd70m-3dts.cvf". This does not exist in the cabview folder. I deleted the Cabview folder in "3dts_sd75_bnsf" and replaced it with the one from "3dts_sd75m". Then I changed the Eng file in "3dts_sd75_bnsf" to reference "3dts_sd75m.cvf" This is what I have now.
Plus the FREEBIE sp sd70m in Folder "SD70m-sp" needs "sd70m-3dts.cvf" if you want to use it. I copied it from the Other sd70sp folder.

The sd70m folders look ok, I may have created my own problems with them. John
