As mentioned in another thread, I've recently removed some unused consists and engines in order to free up some HD space. After using Conbuilder to check for errors it appears I've deleted some consists and/or engines that were needed for some of the activities in the East Metro and Modern England Routes.I am missing the consists and presumably the engines and wagons for the following activites:East Metro: K1 Delivery to Krenshaw K3 Titan to Big City - PassengerModern England: Re-fueling HST Run Noon MailThe puzzling thing is I re-installed both routes including the Moderneng3 update and the East Metro "Retro Metro" but I'm still missing the above consists etc.Can someone help me here???I also deleted the Khia140. I copied the folder and consists from the MSTS CD and it shows up in Conbuilder but I can't select it in the game. Any ideas??Thanks so much. This is a great community.
If you reinstall the activities this will sort out your problem as to consists. Route Control or Route Riter will tell you what rolling stock is missing. Some of the activities for Modern England are at www.uktrainsim.com - search for activities and use England as a keyword. Depending on which version of Modern England you have the updated activities for ME3 are in a zip myacts3.zipAs for the Kiha just make up a consist for the engine and it will appear in the drop down list.Cannot help with East Metro as that has long gone off my machine to make space for Ohio although if you can tell me what engines you need I may well have these on a CD.I know 20/20 vision is a wonderful thing (and wish I had it) but next time just remove the stuff you don't think you need to a back up disk or just another folder until you are sure you dont need it or do what I do.The easiest way to have a clean out your folders is by Route Control (the cutdown version of which is free). Move all the contents of the trains folder (i.e. trainset and consist folders) to another folder called for instance trains1 which will then put the folder immediately under the trains folder. Run Route Control and it will give you a sizeable list of missing consists. Copy the consists on the list back to the trains folder and run Route Control again. It will then come up with a list of missing rolling stock. Copy those on the list back into the trainset folder. Run route control again and you should have a clean sheet and in the trains1 folder all the items you no longer need.It takes a while but is the most foolproof method I know of having a good cleanout.Bill
BillGreat way for cleaning out the consist folder. Was looking for a releatively painless way to do it and your suggestion sounds like the method to use. Thanks.
Thanks for the help. I'll check for the Modern England activites. I *did* re-install the East Metro Activities and they are still missing. Not a big deal as there are *plenty* of other activities to do.It's the Khia 140 that puzzles me. I have consists for it. They still don't show up in the game.I'm going to start another thread about this called:Restoring from MSTS discs. Thanks!
>It's the Khia 140 that puzzles me. >I have consists for it. >They still don't show up in the game. > Of course it doesn't show up! It is an AI train. If you want it to show up, I think you should search for KIHA in the file library and see which modification of the .eng file you like.
I am pretty sure I had those East metro files missing, but the activities still ran OK. I presume it is route control telling you they are missing. Just try running the activities and see if they work.David
