This is my first try at doing this. Wanted to play around with a yard switcher in explore route mode on various routes, so I downloaded the SLSF3S500 from the File Library and installed it per instructions in the readme. Problem is...don't see it on any of the engine drop-down lists in any route or activity. My son gave me a set of Auran engines that installed slick as anything and showed up in every route and activity, automatically. Expected that would happen with the 3S500, same as what happens when you unpack a new route, but NOOooo. What am I missing here?
It sounds as though you haven't made up a consist for it. If a .con file came with it, it may need to be moved to the consists folder. Otherwise, you will have to make consist(s) with the editor or ConBuilder.PaulS
Yeah, I thought that might be it, so I tried building a consist of just the engine. When I finish and push the Save & Close button, I keep getting an error that says the .con file cannot be read. I have a choice of continue or quit, both of which leave me without a .con file. Maybe I'm working the wrong editor: Activity Editor, edit Player Service, new Consist in the Service editor. Or am I way off base on this?
It's been so long since I bothered with the consist editor I'm afraid to even advise you. Do yourself a big, big favor and download ConBuilder. It's in the library or you can get it from Carlos directly at:http://www.geocities.com/conbuilderPaulS
Never mind....I figured out what I was doing wrong. Now I've got this neat little yard switcher running around all over the place. THANKS for your help anyway...guess I'll try ConBuilder.
