RE: ADFRR

I have just taken my supercharged Dash 9 from one end of the route to the other and have not come across any problems.Just a thought - you have run the installme.bat file and NOT the ADFRR.bat file which I assume has been left in the zip file by mistake as all it does is copy the folder to another drive.Bill

Bill, what windows edition are you running? Some have had no or few problems and some have had bunches of missing textures and I'm just trying to find out what the difference is so I know what to do next time. Thanks for trying it and hope you enjoyed it. In developing it, I used a modified Genesis to help debug .. I know where you're coming from

Pentium 4 2.something GHz processor
768MB ram
Geforce 2 MMX video cardI get this distinct feeling that some have used the wrong batch file. Being an inquisitive type I always have a look at the contents of a batch file before running it and could see the other was not meant to be there. What to do next time? Use an exec installer. If you need any help with one feel free to email me.Bill

RE: ADFRR

I could be wrong but I faintly remember there being a problem with XP and the auto execution of some batch files. I think this was an issue on the EMRR and O&WV routes. I don't run XP so I can't talk from experience.Anyway, if those batch files that need to be run did not run properly or completely and the result may have been that all the files that needed to be copied were not copied as needed. As a result you could be missing some texture files, etc. I would suggest printing the batch file and executing each command line as necessary to make sure everything was done properly.Just my humble opinion....

jester, could you write down the names of just a couple of the missing textures and post them back on here or send them to me at robert@adfrr.com . Some have installed correctly the first time around and some are coming up with missing textures. I think we can fix it if you could point me in the right direction. Also, please delete that adfrr.bat (as Bill said, it was means of my backing up my progress and I inadvertantly left it in). All it does is copy modified files to another location which is useless for you. If you happened to use this you might go to D:\ and make sure you don't have another complete ADFRR folder there somewhere taking up useless space. Sorry, I goofed! Thanks for trying it and I'm sure we can get it going. I will be checking back her periodically and also have my mail going.

Curt,
Downside is correct:
"XTracks v3.1 (Full Version} I also suggest that you review the last few days for the threads that deal with the ADFRR route and XTracks as there is some great info available!

This is actually to Curt. But I appreciate all the help everyone has given us, but if XP is like that with batch files, rather than trying to copy each file individually, I'd try copying the complete texture, terrtex and shapes from all six of the folders, then run Route-Riter on it to delete the extra. I think this would be much simpler in the long. I just tried it on mine and it seemed to work. I ended up about 3 extra meg larger than the original, but it would save a lot of time and a big headache, maybe. Just a thought (and that's what gets me into trouble sometimes)

Just a note in support of XP Home - batch files run fine on my machine, even those called by an installer on Rich's route in the past.As an aside, if anyone is short of textures that should have been copied over, first make sure that the textures actually are in one or more of the default routes. I remember when I first installed MSTS some textures were omitted. Since then when I have to reinstall I extract the files direct from CD2 to the TS folder using explorer.Bill

Bill, do you happen to remember what set of textures it was? This would be something I could add to my mounting bits of information! I don't think the batch files problem is only with XP. I have '98SE and have even caught it occasionally missing things. Thanks for the insight

RE: ADFRR

It wasn't a set just odd textures, shapes etc. After coming across a couple I then decided to just unzip the folders from cd2 straight into my machine.Bill
