I love the custom cab however are there supposed to be any control sounds? Sounds from the external view are great, but inside the cab the horn is not even audible. No throttle lever 'click' or brake apply/release sounds either. Was this the intended effect? Or is something lacking in my installation? Bob
Bob, the BB uses the SD70 horn from 3D Train Stuff. The SD70 features the Whisper Cab (and the horns are mounted much farther back) so the 3DTS guys made the horn prototypical and lowered the cab volume. Still sounds great from outside!
I don't pretend to be an expert on the Turbines, but apart from the horns being located relatively far back from the cab I could also imagine that the cabs on these engines might have been pretty well insulated against noise - even by 1950s-vintage standards. After all, the turbine was devilishly loud, and I highly doubt it would be legal to have anybody working under the noise levels produced by the turbine engine without protection. I don't know whether locomotive engineers may wear ear protectors while on duty, but since I figure they must always be ready to respond to the radio I have my doubts that they do.Dominik MannProud Member of the MSTS European Railfans

Thanks for the feedback! I have the SD70 from 3DTS and am familiar with the 'whisper cab'. But what Ilike about the SD70 is that the horn can still be faintly heard from within the cab. In addition there are audible brake application sounds in the cab on the SD70. Would be nice if the BB had those and the 'soft' horn. An excellent loco nevertheless. Bob
Guys, I may have solved the mystery with Big Blows lack of cab sounds. Go to your options screen in MSTS then to the sound section. "Push" the slider all the way to the right and this should restore the cab sounds. I had the same problem, then realized I had left the sound setting at "medium."Bob C. BigBoyFan
Well done Bob! My sound slider was also on medium since I have a very modest computer. Trying sound level all the way gives the sounds in the cab. Thanks for your input. Bob
