169 years ago today, March 2, 1836, the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed at Washington-on-the-Brazos (near Brenham)
So to commmemorate, I offer the following Texas Trivia to pick your brains! What country did we declare independence from?
How many states can Texas be divided into?
Why is Texas the ONLY state in the union in which it is permissible to fly the Texas flag at the same level as the Stars and Stripes?
Who was the "Texican" commander of the forces defending the Alamo?
Why was the battle cry "Remember Goliad!" ?
What year was Texas officially admitted to the Union?
and!
Parts of What other modern-day states made up the the 1836 Republic of Texas?
If you're Texan and you don't know the answers, shame on you!

2 and 6 and 7 are still not right. (Although you only missed by 1)
Texas can be split into 5 states, we gained statehood in 1845 and you forgot wyoming, Nebraska and New Mexico, we didn't have any of Oklahoma.

RE: Happy Texas Independence Day!

Can only be split into 5 states? I think about 50 Rhode Islands could fit in there.Never knew about the flag (I've never lived there - not an issue!)Joe LeMay
