Proto-Freelance Model Railroads? – image 1

Anyone in here have a model railroad thats set in a real place, interchanging with real railroads, but really isn't there in real life? I want to share with you, my ficticious Woodland, Dorr, and Eastern railroad. It is locaded in West Michigan, streaching from the Eaton county line to Allegan, MI. I am in the planning and purchasing phase right now. There are 2 main parts of the WDE route. Woodland Connection and Dorr Belt line. Woodland Connection was a subsidiary of Chessipike and Ohio with their spur leaving Lake Odessa and extending to Woodland and swinging west to connect Freeport and eventually to Middleville, which interchanged with the New York Central. When Conrail sold their route through Hastings, that streach of track became the Kent Barry Eaton Connecting railroad. That Railroad didnt last long and was bought by Woodland Connection in 1983, which almost tripled its size. WC (WC are my initials not Wisconsin Central, Muwahhh) recieved a Chessie (C&O) GP40 and a caboose. WC was sold in 1993, after CSX thought it was unprofitable. Dorr Belt Line was a NYC spur to Allegan, became its own railroad shortly after the Conrail formation, and was bought by WC after the railroad went bankrupt in 1995. That is the Woodland Dorr and Eastern in a nutshell (and yes we still use F7s in regular freight service. and we do not repaint over our heritiage). Heres some Railroad Paintshop images Ive done. I have mostly WC stuff because thats my half. My friend(who lives in Dorr) has all the DBL stuff. (Oh BTW: Ignore the neon green color, the actual color is John Deere green. This green just accents the details better.)

My line, the West Clarion Northern and subsidiaries, owns the former Erie and Pittsburg Shawmut & Northern line between Brockway and St. Mary's, PA. The parent company, WCM Incorporated, owns several other lines in the area, as well as the West Clarion, and Cedar Ridge Minning Companies. The most recent aqusition is the Former Norfolk Southern line between just West of Erie, Pa, and the Buffalo, NY Yard. The new railroad has been given the name Buffalo & Erie, and all purchased locomotives (5 SD70's and 3 U23Bs) have been relettered but are as of yet un-repainted. 3 WCN locomotives have been sent for local switching duties, although the purposed paint scheme for the B&E would be non traditional and NOT follow the WCN Blue & Brown.Thats the basic history, i have the complete if anyone raises questions.

Actually mine is a little off. I forgot that my friend who lives in Sunfield told me he wanted to get into railroading, so I made the WDE larger. The Sunfield Southern was formed. Thats the great thing about ficticious railroads, they can get 30 more miles of trackage overnight.
