Just curious and I wanted to start a conversation. What do you do? For a Job? In your spare time? Hobbies? Pets? I work part time at my grandmothers store, in grade 8 at school. I like hunting and fishing, I am a model railroader and a Railfan. I have a couple of cats and a dog. I practically LOVE Canadian National too. Lets see if that stirs up some conversation between people? Morgan

I do not have a job right now, mainly because I am a student full time and in college, it really does mean full time. When I'm not busy with school I'm usually at the airport flying. I love to fly and I fly about once a week. I also like Model Railroading but because I don't have my own place, I don't have one right now. But if I did have one, it would be a logging layout set in the North Carolina mountains. So yea.

Looks like our Checkers, with color differences...The bad thing about her is her intelligence. She has a rather good vocabulary and understands a lot of what we say to her. She can also talk back (in her fashion). She even lures me into other rooms so she can steal my spot on the couch.I hate being outwitted by a dog.Frank MusickMoving America into the 19th Century!

Very cool Mike, is that a four year program? In Canada, most planning degrees are two year Master's Degrees, so I had to do a four degree in something I was a little less interested in first before I could study what I really wanted to at the Master's level. A friend of mine spent a year in Australia, from what he told me about transportation (particularily in the Sydney area), it sounds like you are quite right about there being lots of work to do!I actually ran into a guy from Australia at a conference on urban transit last year in Ottawa, he was also studying urban planning and transportation. I can't remember for sure where he was from, but I think it was Adelaide....

Wasn't gonna answer this at first...I have worked for several decades in various Information Technology fucntions and I'm currently waiting for my position as an information analyst to be "transitioned" to India. Looks like March may be some kind of deadline, so I'm looking for a new job. Have another interview today so keep me in your thoughts. When I'm not feeling down about that scenario, I hang out with my wife of thirty years, a dog and two cats (one of which is actually mine and named Chessie after the railroad mascot). Occasionally one of our five kids comes to visit and there is actually noise in the house. Empty nest and all that you know...I try not to do a whole lot these days. All the stupid things I did as a younger man have come back to haunt me in the form of arthritis and other aches. Never saw that coming. Who knew you could wear out a human body. When I do get up the energy I work on "do it yourself" things like repairing cars, home repair, etc.Since it's cheaper and less dangerous than swapping engines out of cars, MSTS seems to be my major hobby these days. I have always been interested in railroads as far back as I can remember. When I'm not building models or routes, I'm collecting books and magazine about railroading so I can build more models and routes...It's a vicious cycle!I do have other interests, of course, like astronomy and other sciences (string theory is crap!). I love studying history and once in a while collect marine fossils (they're all over the place down here).Currently looking forward to grandchildren, hitting the lottery, and an opening for the "Dark Overlord of the Universe" position.Frank MusickMoving America into the 19th Century!

They laid off 98% of their I.T. staff (about 3000 people), including me, and contracted their replacements in India. My last assignment was to train some of the replacements. I finished up there as an expert level Enterprise-wide Data Architect. These days I'm enjoying life as Mr. Mom. Agilent! One of our vendors in the ever ongoing quest to get real data connections to Hyderabad/Mumbai...I don't get to train my replacement. I'm told it wouldn't be "fair" to myself (I sense so it can't be used as part of any lawsuits).I not sure I like this job anyway, so it's probably just as well. I'm trying to get back into the techie side that I know and love. The last interview seemed to go well, but that doesn't tell me much.If it's so economically feasible to send some IT jobs overseas, I'm afraid the only thing keeping any of them here in the states for now is bandwidth issues.Maybe I can talk my wife into me staying home with the dog and cats Frank MusickMoving America into the 19th Century!

I take up space, lol. But really,
Im an 11th grader at Lakewood High School and hoping to get a job at the Super Wal*Mart going in nearby. I love to work on Dodge trucks. I own a 1987 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4(Anyone who lives in Michigan needs a 4x4) and I will be getting a 1985 Dodge Ram 150 soon. My all time favorite railroad is Grand Trunk, but I am interested in Santa Fe and Chessie System (CSX a lil too). I love to do stuff outdoors. I hope to start racing at Kalamazoo Speedway next summer but gotta lose a lil weight first . Im a big NASCAR fan. I probably have more NASCAR stuff then train stuff. I like Kasey Kahne and Jeremy Mayfield(The Dodge sponsered cars of course). I also love the comedy of the Blue Collar Boys, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Larry the Cable Guy, and Ron White. I hope I didnt forget anything, lol. Heres some pics to go with my post:

I'm a 7th Grade student in a North Texas School. I am an ultimate foamer w/ my dad, ofcourse. I am currently in the stages of heavy Model Railroading, although I wish somebody would buy our house!!! This way I will have a basement layout up in NY. I am a big fan of the Santa Fe, BNSF, WP, KCS, CSX, & NS...but mostly Santa Fe. I am currently helping my friend, Zach(atsf107), with his layout. I also have many projects ahead of myself for the MR, with repainting engines, decals, etc. Other than that you can find me on BNSF's Wichita Falls Sub., BNSF's Ft. Worth Sub., or UP's Duncan Sub. (mostly around the Saginaw area when I railfan).-MattATSF GP60M #104 works on the local in Flagstaff, AZ. www.atsfrr.com Please attend the up coming convention in Pasadena, California.

If you cant find me at Home I'm railfanning up and down the BNSF Ft. Worth Sub.

We've got 2 cats, no puppies - my wife keeps "hounding" me for a puppy, but so far I'm keeping our little "Animal Planet" manageable(for me, anyway). In "real" life, I do research for the Environmental Protection Agency. Our group has historically conducted R&D on pollution control technologies for power plants, hazardous waste incineration systems, industrial processes, and the like. We've been getting out of that business over the past several years, and are now focusing on measurement technologies and moving toward developing approaches to sustainability. It's an extremely interesting job most of the time - there are always the days when it's clear that the inmates are running the asylum, but most of the time they can be ignored and we can do real work.Andy

RE: What do you do....Newspaper Boy!

I use to drive semis for a couple years, but with my wife in Army (she be a Major), us always on the move and having a 3 year old, I get to stay home with her, just as I have pretty much since she was born, which has been great, not to mention the loads of time I have with MSTS. I just started a morning newspaper delivery route. Kind of a drag doing it EVERYDAY, but the money is really good, about $1000-$1200 a month, which is the same if not better than what I made when I worked at Krispy Kreme last year. Sunday is a drag though, with 245 houses, but it is also my best $$ day of the week.Chris Bogley
