Hehehehehe, school "cancelled" – image 1

I live in metropolitan Washington DC... in a town called Damascus MD... our coldest temps through the winter seaon seems to be the low teens for extreme, but it mostly stays in the upper 20s or so..
Today was something ridiculous like 6 degrees with wind you wouldn't belive.I know some of my peers to the north will laugh, for they see much much colder, but to us, here, this is insane. Now, here is the best part. Ready to catch the bus at 6:50 am..... 7:08, still no bus.Oh gee... guess I won't be able to attend school today Now, even though I'm a jr, I'm still not driving (parents + $$$ = nobody happy) Hope everyone has a good day, weather you're in school, or ..not Take care,-Jeffrey

RE: Hehehehehe, school "cancelled"

Well I use to go to Damascus High as you know FURX, so after living in that area for all of my school age life, I know all too well how insane they are when it comes to calling school, hell I recall one Sept., they called school becasue it was too hot!In contrast, living in Syracuse NY, snow, and mind numming temps. are nothing new here, in fact it is expected. Last January for example, I don't think the temp got above 0 all month, for a high, or low. This morning, after a wicked artic blast ripped through here dumping a few inches of snow and giving us some fierce winds, school kids woke up to temps below 0 (here in Liverpool outside 'Cuse it was -10 at 7am, with a wind chill of about -25) and at best, a one hour delay for most school districts, not becasue of the temps, but because some of the roads were still a little tricky.Live it up FURX!! You better stay in Montgomery County's schools till your done with school!Chris Bogley

RE: Hehehehehe, school "cancelled"

I think it was around 95 or 100, but you have to keep in mind that the schools turn off the AC's around mid Sept. in Maryland, because it normally is not very hot, so rather than waste the money to run them on for a day (If I recall, this was on a Friday), they just called off school.Chris Bogley

>homeschooler..... It's nothing for it to get 110+ out here. and that's in the shade. factor in the humidity (always higher since we're close to the Gulf) and you get heat indices 115-125. That's when you set the a/c to "hang meat"

RE: Hehehehehe, school "cancelled"

Sounds to me like all the snow is moving east, Chicago has had a bit of a heat wave this winter, we usually get a few feet by now. This year about two inches. Still very cold though.
