Some of ya'll may have been wondering whatever happened to Bill Burnett. Well, he's been busy working on a new model. I can't wait to see how he incorporates this beauty into the sim. Here's an excerpt from the e-mail accompanying the pictures."As you know, I got temporarily burned out on building Sea View. So, I turned to model ship building. Here are some photos on my first effort, the H.M.S. Beagle. About eight months of "work". Most pieces of wood were individually cut and carefully shaped, sanded, and varnished. Lots of errors, but my next effort will be better. Had a difficult time getting good photos. The ship is now in a display case to protect it from dust and the cat. To give you some sense of scale, the ship's guns are about 3/4 inch long. Note, the little "buildings" with windows have no doors and are too small for people. They are skylights for providing light below deck. Not sure what is next, Sea View 5 or the Royal Yacht Caroline.Bill"Wouldn't that sea worthy vessel look good in port at Coconut Island?
That is simply outstanding... The detail is just incredible! Very realistic. And this is his first ship? Simply amazing job there Bill, and thanks Hawk for sharing the photos! -Jeff
