Events That Changed/Had Impact On Your Life – image 1

My top three are:
1. April 27, 2001 11:25a.m. Me and my pregnant girlfreind were in Pine Bluff coming back down the road and we come into a really sharp curve. A 18 wheeler empty flatbed truck comes in the curve too fast and is in my lane. He tries to get over but too late. His trailer hits my truck. Luckily my girlfriend and baby are ok, but I look down and see my left foot is broke completely in two. Took a steel rod and several screws to hold in place and put back on. Skin was the only think that kept it from falling off. Aint been able to walk right since.
2. August 25th 2001 9:44 p.m. My first son, Chad Jr. is born weight 10 lbs. You never know how mean a woman can get until you have to deal with one on the delivery table.
3. August 19th 6:45p.m. I get a call from Carol Cason with the UPRR offering me a position for train service out of North Little Rock. Starting Oct. 11th.

RE: Events That Changed/Had Impact On Your Life

Sept. 2, 2001 - I am awoken at 3:15am by my wife who is having pains. Later that day, at 1:02pm, Ashley Morgan is born. Funny thing was, we didn't rush to the hospital. My wife took a shower, and I took the dog out. It helped though that the hospital was 2 blocks away. Later that morning, I actually left and went home to return some movies, cam back and my wife let me watch the NASCAR race, even during delievery. My driver, Jeff Gordon won.Oct. 31, 2000 - While taking a load of computer paper from Maryland to the Los Angelas area, my semi loses traction on a wet I-40 west of Nashville TN, and hydroplanes into the median, and flips about 6 or 7 times. Somehow I walked away from this, and was able to see what was once a baby blue Peterbilt and a 53' reefer trailer littered across the highway for probally a good hundred yards or so. I-40 was closed all day as a reslut, and the accident left me with a shattered back.Oct. 12, 2001 - My first visit to Tehachapi. I was hooked from then on, and in time railfanning has become my favorite pastime, in person, on the computer, and even watching tapes and DVD's. I would make 5 more trips to Tehachapi in the next 2 years since that time, and on my last visit there in July 2003, on the last night, me and Curt got a cabride from Bena-the Loop aboard UP AC4400 #5728. Planning another trip out there in March, 2005.Chris Bogley

I have, not quite even, 16 years under my belt, so Mine may seem not as important, or as big as your guys who are of a high number, but I'm sure I will face my troubles in the future, but for now these are mine;1) Ummm, Sometime in July, 2004...Saturday I know, after the 4th...Was at the local chapter of 4H or whatever the official sponsor was horse show with my (now ex)girlfriend and her horse Holly. Set some thing on the wheel well of the trailer where she was tied, bumped part of the lead line, but paid little attention to it at the time...or the really Pissed looking horse tied next to Holly. 5 Minutes later we see people running like mad, finnally someone decides to tell us that Holly's lead untied and she took off towards the interstate. We got her back, with out any problems, but upon returning someone I'd rathe rnot name started coming down pretty har don my girl, and we've dealt with her before but for some odd reason I blew up on her this time, probably because I'm sick of her treating he rlike she doesn't know and ything and can't think, but anyway looking back at that day the two major problems that happened were both my fault....First off I should've been paying more attention to the lead line, Second I KNOW the signs of a pissed off horse looking for a fight, I shoul have recognized the signs and aske dher to move Holly to the other side of the trailler. Third, Thinking abotu it I mos tlikely could have handled the situation with the other person a bit better...most likely with out walking off claling her a B***h and almost starting a fist fight...We broke up about, 4 weeks ago, we'd been dating for a year and 5 months, and looking back now I realise my mind went into major shut down, I wasn't thinking clearly at anything, and I was "afraid" to do a lot of things for fear of offending her. I'm finding I now think clearer and have mroe confidence, BUT as a side affect from thinking clearly I now see the stupid things I did, I'm guessing this is what it's liek to wake up in the morning with a hangover and you begin remembering what happened...mainly though I'm jsut bothered by the things I could have done, and didn't, and things I shouldn't have done, but did...and this whole Horse show fiasco seems to be most prominate in my mind, for I stills trongly beleive it was my fault and If wasn't such a clumsy oafe none of it would have happened. I also think sometimes (rather unintentionally as well) what would have happened if we didn;t stop her before she fell 10 feet onto the interstate with trucks barelling by at 80-90 MPH to get a run for the hill and cars that are just going that fast for fun? How many lives would one stupid mistake have cost? How much spirit would have been broken because I inadvertadely did something to kill her horse? I dunno, that kinda turned into more then It started as, not in real good of a mood....So, sorry if that was inapproriate, and the Mod's know what to do with it.So, as apposed to 3 Big life events so far I have one big one that bother's me just about everyday anymore....the big question I need to get over right now is "What If..." and start focusing on "What was" and "What DIDN'T" Because I'm sick of trying to make What was, What is and what Will be...You can't make the past the future, although we all wish we could, for the past is familiar, and we know what happens, the future in un familiar, and we enter it with no idea of what is happening and what will happen. And pretty much we all need this sense of control, or understanding of what will happen, so I myself wound up gripping the past too tightly, tryign to hold onto it for as long a spossible, and to bring it into the here and now. I now see that in the process of holding so tightly on the past I inadverdently squeezed the life out of it, and while I though I was enjoying it, no one else was, they were ready to move on and I wasn't, as well as being I was fooling myself into beleiving Holding so tightly wa smaking me happy, where as it was still an Illusion of the Mind.

1) About 4 in the afternoon on September 14, 2004. My mom was driving me home in the rain. We had stopped at a 3 way intersection without lights. We had to make a left turn so we waited for traffic that was coming in the other direction. Then all of a sudden our car jerks foreward and some dumba** teen driver ran into the back of our car. Which left me with a hurting neck.2) 2 pm West Williams Jct., Arizona Sometime last year in August a train stopped there with 5264 sitting on the point. The conductor came out of the cab door and waved us over to the train to let us on. 3) 9/11.4) Ukraine incident in 1986.-MattATSF GP60M #104 works on the local in Flagstaff, AZ.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-06-04 AT 10:25 AM (EDT)

April 2002: I was in my house and when I was going downstairs to the basement to get a snack, I step on a sharp cooking tool, which goes about a 1/4 inch into my left heel. I was rushed to St. Clair Hospital's Emergency Room(no surgery required people!). I got it taken out within 30 min. and had one stitch in that exact spot. I had trouble walking but it was a minor injury. To this day, I can still see the scar with the stitch mark.

RE: Events That Changed/Had Impact On Your Life

June 2002, Hinsdale, Illinois: While watching Amtrak Train 347 "The Illinois Zephyr" speed through town in Hinsdale, Illinois, I see a small Ford zip around the gates right as the train begins to enter the crossing. Driver was rushed to Hinsdale Hospital, which is litterally a half a block a way.

1) 9/112)Summer of '92.I'm on my first bike,a Kawasaki Zephyr 550.A brilliant backroad burner, despite the lack of plastic.Usually I scope out a road before I attack it.But this Sunday in Harriman State Pk in NY I didn't.We got a late start which means a lot of slow going.finally I got to open road.It was a section towards the end of Seven Lakes Drive, right for 9W south, left for 9W north, the Bear Mountain Inn,and the Bear Mountain Bridge.I went right. There was a tight 180 degree right hander that had a yellow sign "suggesting" 20mph.I hit it at 60+.Which wouldn't normally be a problem except for the sand washout halfway through the turn.I grabbed as much brake as possible and went down at 45+.The bike was on top of me.We hit boulders perfectly spaced at the wheelbase of my bike and bounced off.At least it wasn't on top of me anymore. At around 20 or so mph I dug my heels into the ground and stood up,running.I grabbed the bike just as it came to a stop and picked it up.It was still running and not a drop of gas was spilled.I changed my riding style after that.I call it the "75% rule".Don't ever ride past 75% except on a track. At 75%,you still have fun, don't piss off the cops as bad,and have room for error.3)Getting hired to the NYSW signal dept in 1989.

"Hold tight, feel the drivers bite, hear the whistle moan.Engine rockin' to the left and right, vibratin' in my bones.Once the locomotive steals your soul, you got a Casey Jones!"---Ian"Lemmy"Kilmister

Not good events:1) May, somthing, 2004 -- My grandfather on my dads side passed away from a heart attack. He was 67. We were verry close. He used to take me fishing and we'd just goof off. Once we built a little cart out of wood that we would roll down hills in town. My mom wasn't happy when she saw us coming down one of the steepest roads in town.2) 9-11-01Good stuff:1) Same day as my grandfather, 2004 -- I was playing my 5th game as the Varsity first baseman for the Oliver Wolcott Technical High School's baseball team and we had 0 wins so far. That day I got 4 hits in 5 at-bats, with a double and 2 homers, including a game-winning, walk off grand slam. The final score was 15-14 and it was our only win.2) My first cabride in a Housatonic GP35 when I was about 4 years old. I've loved trains ever sence.15 years and that's the hi-lights -Dave
