I recently went to the website with the intention of ordering TrainMaster 4 to try out, but was stopped in my tracks when the website came up with a shipping bill to Canada of $31.50 US. I would still like to get it, but not at that price. Is there any other way to get it?
RE: Is there a cheaper way of getting Train Master 4?
If you want to see what Trainmaster is like, you can download the free demo. But, this forum is really about the NEW Trainmaster Train Simulator, a totally new simulator that hopes to be compatible with MSTS content.

That seems a bit steep for a disc and small manual - have you tried emailing the distributor to check?ISTR the guys who did Train Dispatcher (Signal Computer Consultants) used to act as agents when TM4 was sold by Corporate Strategies, might be worth checking them out. Sorry, don't have a link to hand.

I did e-mail PI Engineering and basically they only ship to Canada by Fedex/UPS now. They used to use USPS, but apparently they lost a lot of packages. Fedex is very expensive to Canada. I hope they come up with a less expensive method of shipping for their new simulator. It looks very promising.I did find Trainmaster available through a software company which ships for $4 US (USPS 1st class). Will likely pick it up through them.

You will find Trainmaster to be a very good simulator, almost too good. It does not have the bells and whistles of MSTS, but it is very solid. Also, if you select the default options on operation, it behaves according to accepted railroad practise, and the physics of the equipment much more faithfully than MSTS - and if you really mess up, it will tear up your license right on the screen. However, I don't recommend it for the kids to play with because it only has fixed routes, and although TM was working on a consist editor at one time, I don't know how far that got. Earlier versions of TM also had the CSX Corbin-Etowah line, but did not have the cabview. I would expect that the data to recreate some of those routes is in the hands of PI now, though they may need to secure permission from CSX and whoever to sell the routes - we have seen how sticky some of these folks get relative to the UP logo thing. Since you cannot wreck a train with it, the kids might get bored, but the serious simmers should love it. I am hopeful that the faithful adherence to rules and physics will be the default in the new sim, and I am also interested to see what TA comes out with.Railroadman
