My computer picked up a virus just recently and I fixed that. But when trying to open TD2 I get the box stating a missing shell.dll file. I re-downloaded the game with the same result. The set-up .exe also will not run due to this missing file. I copied and pasted a shell.dll file from another Windows folder. No luck. Any suggestions?Bob Staples
Your SHELL.DLL file may not be registered. Open up a command window (or DOS prompt) and change directory to where your SHELL.DLL resides (usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32). Type in the following:REGSVR32 SHELL.DLLand press "Enter". You should get a message saying that SHELL.DLL was registered successfully. Hopefully that will fix your problem and you'll be able to install/run TD.Let us know how you fare. - Andrew
Andrew,Thanks for answering, but I'm not sure as to what to do. I have Windows XP home version on my computer. Not certain where to go to do this or how to open DOS. Hate to trouble you, but could you give me a quick step-by-step on this. Many thanks,Bob
Bob,As it turns out, SHELL.DLL cannot be registered. But I do believe that it must reside in 2 folders on your computer for other programs to find it, so let's make sure they are where they should be on your computer. Open up a Windows Explorer so you can see files on your hard drive. Go to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder and make sure that SHELL.DLL is indeed there. It should also reside in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder as well. They should be the exact same files. If you do not see them there in those folders, copy (don't move) the SHELL.DLL file from where-ever you now have it and place it in both of those folders. Now restart your computer and try installing/running Train Dispatcher.Good Luck.
