Just wondering if anyone who has seen this running can tell me/us , is there any cab movement in the sim yet ... if anyone has seen Sierra's Nascar 2003 season, you will appreciate how well modelled the bouncing of the car is from the inside view..
Msts really falls down on a realism level by the way that the cab view is NOT bouncing around. One of my hopes had been that this would have been improved in MSTS 2 .

RE: Any CabView movement in MSTS2?

Yes, this swinging motion so outstandingly implemented in BVE is one of the better attributes toward the feeling of being there - reality.
I don't think this feature will be on Kuju feature list anytime.Adam

Also, if you are in a real locomotive, the cab and seat are moving too, not just the windshield or the image in the windshield. Small rough spots and dips in the rail are not really noticable.

Yep .. ok I feel better now... I reckon you train guys would know.. never having ever been 'on the footplate' myself I can quite believe I was looking for too much cab movement... hehe but you haven't been on a sprinter on the line between Leeds and Hull .. now those things nearly leap right off the tracks it's so bouncy

RE: Any CabView movement in MSTS2?

Just one more point JV,
Couple of years ago I had a guy ride with me and make a cab video (Yep, he had company permission). He cut me a copy of the tape. When I tried watching it at home, it almost made me sea-sick in some places. His tripod obviously didn't response as the human body does, as the video sometimes jerked all over the place. If the view from an operating locomotive was like that, you'd have to have dispensers for sea sick pills in the cab.

>David It seems to me that the guy used mostly tele zoom in order to cut the window frame, therefore the picture is so jerky, also there should be a fluid head tripod for this kind of recording.David and others, I have a feeling that no one among you ever play Boso View Express (BVE). I suggest you to try. BVE has two strong attributes,ie. the excellend sounds, especially of the wheels and track and the lateral swinging which is exhibited in the most natural, not disturbing way.Again, you should see it in order to judge it.
Few years ago I was able to experience this feeling on board of SBB Re4/4" loco on Zurich-Chur route. There is a lateral movement of the loco body and this is exact as represented in BVE.
Again, no other train simulation has this feature.Adam

It includes
Ability to adjust track quality which changes the amount the train sways.
Tilting if used
Flying out of the track if going to fast, although it doesn't let you...
Curve Cant
Braking screech sounds
Flange sounds
Point Sound
Passenger Comfort Level(although when I drive, it gets angry...)
Etc...

--You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!--
One morning, I woke up(Duh!) Then I ate breakfast. I ate green eggs and ham. It looked tasty! But after a while, my stomach didn't feel quite well. So I ran to the toilet! And guess what? I let out a giant FART! Did anyone feel a giant earthquake?
Oops? Where has my favourite LUL train gone? Maybe it was sent for bolt checking again...

Well, there's also this free 3d simulator at http://www.eu07.prv.pl/ so i would be hesitant about saying "no other"

>"no other" You wouldn't since "Symulator Lokomotywy PKP EU07" is in very early stages of development and right now it's more as loco simulator but not a full featured train simulator, as contrary to BVE which is very mature freeware program. I have both of them and there is no place to compaire between them.Adam

Am not comparing the programs; just commenting that contrary to the original statement the particular feature in question is present in both.EDIT: btw, am not sure i'd say the EU is in very early development stage anymore, either. It's not friendly to 3-rd party rolling stock developers, but the train simulation appears quite complete at this point...

RE: Any CabView movement in MSTS2?

Well, I downloaded and installed BVE .. found a few trains and some routes ... AND YESS!!! that cab sway is just what I want! In my opinion... (humble of course) even though the program is graphically challenged in todays 3D world it does the cab movement brilliantly..
It actually makes this much more immersive than MSTS .. the sounds are impressive too ... (considering it's free ok) .. I think that the KUJU guys have done a great job of simulating what it would be like to sit in front of a screen of railway tracks scrolling gently by, but as far as feeling part of it... hmmm
That's all I ask, a little cab sway that ties in with the world outside my cab window ... going on to a more pronounced rocking as speed increases ... that would certainly add to the impression of speed .. ( it needs it).

MSTS 2 will probably fullfil most of average "virtual railroader"
dreams, so there will be no need for BVE or similar programs.Adam

>Talk about make a person seasick. It's gotta move just a little bit. It would help you know how fast you are going without looking at the speedometer. Then we could have different classifications of track in a single route. For instance, old branchlines could be horridly out of shape, while high-traffic mainlines could be almost as smooth as glass.

RE: Any CabView movement in MSTS2?

I'm actually finding myself bouncing up and down slightly in my bouncy chair as I run MSTS these days.. LOL!! How sad is that! Saves me suspending my monitor from the ceiling and giving it a push ( as helpfully suggested by the Viz comic reader above ) .
