it will probully look like when you add a Fs98 or elier plane in fs2002 pro most of the animations dont work kinda deal. I know this probully is not the case with the train models but they'll probylly need some work to get up to 20,000 polyies for it to look good beacuse look at some wheels in v1 and compare it to v2 the wheels in v2 are nice and round and look like round wheels, but the wheels on v1 look like stop signs going down the track. it will have to be a darn good converter to get this result I hope MS is up to the challenge please give me your thoughts on this thanks guys an gals for your time to read this little thought of mine and please stay healthy and safe and god blessfastruck

I for one won't be doing any conversions of my locomotives; instead taking advantage of the higher polys and design something new. Cheers! Marc - 3DTrains http://www.3dtrains.comPro Series SuperPacks

I don't think there would be much trouble with the animations unless the new game engine approaches them in a totally different way.> I know this probully is not the case with the train models >but they'll probylly need some work to get up to 20,000 >polyies for it to look good beacuse look at some wheels in >v1 and compare it to v2 the wheels in v2 are nice and round >and look like round wheels, but the wheels on v1 look like >stop signs going down the track. > >it will have to be a darn good converter to get this result >I hope MS is up to the challenge I can just about guarantee that any sort of import/convert of MSTS 1 rolling stock will not polys to the model. Multiple smoothing passes would need to be done for an MSTS1 model to reach 20,000 polys. This type of work is done in a 3D modeling application. Unless MSTS2 is coming bundled with onboard 3D modeling software, this degree of model enhancement just isn't possible. Not to mention that extreme full model smoothing such as this would actually cause you to loose detail on the models. Crisp edges would soon be rounded. The model basically erodes a little bit each time you smooth it. Not to mention that this can be a very time and RAM intensive process.I'm still a bit skeptical about the 20,000 polygons figure. If MSTS 2 can waste 20,000 poly's on the loco alone, (along with the poly stealing animated passengers and scenery) then it must have quite the radically advanced gaming engine! I'll believe it when I see it.-Jeff

same here. I hope that I don't have to import all of the defualt msts v1 locomotives in msts2 becuase that will be a pain to do with a 100 custum locomotives on top of that. lets hope MS can pull a rabit out of a hat to pull this off.
