Any advance word on whether MS/Kuju has solved the annoying broken coupler bug that plagued version 1? For me, that remains one of the major obstacles to full enjoyment of the simulator. Also, are air brake characteristics and/or train physics improved? Version 1 wasn't exactly "as real as it gets."Screens look great so far!

If any of you patrons out there at E3 have the chance, please ask the MSTS staff about this. Thanks!

There was another post that someone mentioned it and surprised the people at the show. Apparently they thought the patch cleared up all the issues. -Jeff

I read the other post from the E3 report, but I believe that message was referring to the difficulty coupling the "F" end of the locomotive to consists during switching. My concern is with problems like those around the Cutbank area in version 1...the dreaded knuckle-buster. I hope this bug has been solved. I'm a little surprised there hasn't been more discussion about this issue in conjunction with the version 2 unveiling.

I really find it hard to believe that they thought the patch cleared up all the issues. The patch may have fixed the train not being able to move issue, but there was still the issue involving the operations window when using the front coupler. You can only have 7 objects in the operations window when using the front coupler. I am not sure, but I believe I have heard of random crashing after the patch when using the front coupler. At this point, Microsoft/Kuju have an opportunity to redeem themselves. Do not rush it out to market and make sure it is well tested. If there are any major bugs that are found after release, do not wait 6 months or more to fix it.Edward K.

HAPPY NOW? It's not moving anymore.
It's still the same train but in another livery, that's all.

RE: Will MSTS 2 correct broken coupler errors and physi

I think you have to understand that KUJU has it's strength in the artisitic side of 3D modeling, not in engineering and physics. The 1.2 version of the SD40-2 illustrates the problem by amplyfying the over strong air brake problem without toouching any of the real physics issues. For example, even after the many months from the first release, they never did correct the improper units of the coupler damping line. From what is reported, the KUJU MSTS team leadership is not overly knowledgeable about railroading or physics, emphasis on modeling and productivity instead. I don't mean this in a harsh critical way, as many of the problems will be addressed by others after the new version is released. The only thing we need, is a sim engine that functions with all the parameters working properly.
