Read an about from a guy that was at E3...over at auran.comMSTS2 is going to have spline track.http://www.auran.com/trainz/forum/default.htmGreg HighV0lt6ge - AIM/AOL gregoryis411@hotmail.com
I suppose that is good. I also have trainz so I know what it is like. The only problem I have with spline track is creating curves that are smooth. I guess they get to save space by not having all of the track shapes to worry about. Overall it sounds like MSTS2 is going to be good. I hope they kill the major bugs this time before release.Edward K.
Spline track is defined by a set of geometrical points. The track is then smoothly fit through these points. This is different from the process in MSTS 1 where you have to lay track from a limited set of pre-defined track pieces.Generally it is a more flexible scheme which would (in theory at least) make superelevated track, variable ballast depth and multiple track textures possible. There is currently no sign of these features in the screenshots of MSTS 2.cheers
I think you'll find that, if it actually is included, it will enhance the traditional track sections, NOT replace them.A track-spline tool would make it a damned sight easier - and provide far greater flexibility - to connect straight runs of track than the current dynamic-track tool. After creating routes in Trainz using splines AND track pieces, I can only say that this would be a good move - and a sensible one - by Microsoft.Bruce.
