When MSTS1 was released about three years ago, I was using BVE but I was not happy with it because I can't choose any routes for the train to take while I'm driving the train. After buying MSTS1, I ran trains on included routes and I like the Northeast Corridor and the Tpkyo-Hakone Railway routes the best. I ran into problems while trying to create new routes for MSTS1 and I found out that there were serious problems with Route Editor. When Auran Trainz was released about two years ago, I bought it and I liked it better than MSTS1 but the earlier versions had some problems that were fixed in later versions. I was able to create the entire NYCTA subway system in Trainz 1.5 (UTC). I was not able to create the entire NYCTA subway system in MSTS1 due to serious problems with Route Editor. Auran will release Trainz 2 in fall and I will pre-order it. I found out that Microsoft will release MSTS2 in fall and I'm not sure about buying it. I will NOT buy it unless it has a brand new Route Editor. Jeffrey.
When MSTS2 is released we will know the features. In the mean time my advice would be, get what you can get, MSTS, Trainz, BVE, Suzi and when it's released; Steam Locomotive Simulation. I've got all of the above, although the last one is only available as a demo.
I am NOT wasting my money on MSTS2 unless it has brand new Route Editor. The Route Editor in MSTS1 is very frustrating to use and loves to crash computers. Jeffrey.

Could the RE in MSTS2 actually be any worse than the one in MSTS1? (knock on wood) I doubt it. I think KUJU is painfully aware of the grief that the current editor is causing people.I look at what people are creating now and just shake my head. They're creating these awesome routes {b]in spite of the RE in MSTS1! I'm excited to find out what they'll come up with using better tools. -Jeff
