Having been working a lot with the KUJU MSTS Editors recently, can't really call them MICROSOFT MSTS Editors as they were not supported by them, it seems that all we are ever talking about is MSTS-2, meaning the User Playable Version. What I would really like to know is what MICROSOFT are going to do about supplying the Development Community with betters Tools for the next version of MSTS, hopefully including a lot of the brilliant Utilities the Train Sim Community had to create in the absence of "Official" ones ! I vaguely remember a passing comment on that subject prior to the attempted and later aborted release of MSTS-2 last year ?O t t o

>Having been working a lot with the KUJU MSTS Editors

>they were not supported by them,That's because, they knew if they had gace support for it, there would be flooded with lots of bugs about the Route Editor!

-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!-----
Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it.
Eh, where did my signature go?
Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it.
Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool(and the Filling tool!)!
It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet.
Anyway, I warned you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...

Otto,The key factor is that we would all like to know: period, so here's an idea: There are over 3,500 members in the Train forums who (depending on how loudly they shouted) could--by sheer strength of numbers--finally force the issue on Microsoft: that of "Are you or are you not!". The only way I can think of doing this is to get an electronic petition going which then would be delivered to the relevant--albeit reticent--personnel of Micosoft. This idea would need both the support of forum members and Nels Anderson.Unless anyone has a better idea I suggest we have a poll on the "Electronic Petition".So anyone and everyone any IDEAS!Mike <>MSTS-NEXT Editors – image 2Michael Sinclair

RE: MSTS-NEXT Editors

Mike,I made a similar suggestion once before and even FAXED Bill Gates himself. Can't go any higher than that in MICROSOFT ! NO RESPONSE ! Customer Relations is something they talk about but do not exercise !They do what they want to do and to hell with you trapped in their Windows Monopoly Software user ! O t t o

Hmmmm, what about a response from the forum Otto: a mass response might get him? What is his address?Upon being interviewed over here in the UK on British TV, Bill Gates's response was one of a stony-faced expression to one of the funniest jokes I have heard:Sometime in the future and and the great Bill Gates has passed away. Thus Bill Gates along with other notables are in a great chamber before the presence of Almighty God, and one by one the great and famous notables who have done so much for humanity were praised and allowed to enter heaven, but when it came to Bill Gates turn, Bill Gates interrupted Almighty God and said "I think you are sitting in my place!"Mike

This will do squat. You can't force M$ to do anything. Regardless of your petition.-Jeff

Jeff,You can't force anybody to do anything if they don't want to (though I find that a set of electrodes does wonders), BUT you can influence people IF enough people are prepared to SAY something rather than to sit on the fence and declare the outcome as a forgone conclusion.Mike <>MSTS-NEXT Editors – image 3Michael Sinclair

RE: MSTS-NEXT Editors

I think MS must be well aware of the feelings in the community, after all they must check the forums (both here and UKTS) and sites such as mine where a couple of times I've posed the "what's happening" question. It's a very fine line knowing how to try and get a response. Although I've been critical with some of my comments in the other thread running on this, I'm *not* anti MS or anti Train Sim. Far from it, I'm very pleased they brought us Train Sim 1 and that I've been able to recreate some of my favourite routes, but doesn't change the fact I'm now tired of its shortcomings and want something new/better. So outright hostility isn't going to work, just put their backs up but neither is fawning either. For now I guess all we can do is keep lobbying. A petition might achieve some effect and would probably have to be delivered both electronically and by registered (or whatever the US equivalent) post to the head of games development at Redmond.
