How about if we had the ability to isolate our engines. In the real world railroads have restrictions as to how many powered axles you can have online. So my suggestion is when you hit the F9 key and the consist of your train comes up that we can right click on the engine and the following options are there: 1. Isolate(no power, no dynamic brake) 2. Power only 3. Dynamic Brake onlyThis feature would work well when you have power in tow(dead engines going from one location to another). So if you have eight engines you could use the head three and isolate the other five....giving you much more realism in you train handling.......Just a thought.
Really good idea, but how about adding these three options.4. Shutdown Unit 5. Start Unit 6. Ground Relay ResetIf MS could work in an isolate unit feature, then it wouldn't be too hard to incorporate shutdown, and startup sounds when selected. The GFR could be set to activate on a user preset percentage scale, that would put the engine in isolate when activated. Think of MSFS, and its user selected systems failure. You could select low water level and low oil pressure shutdowns, ground faults, compressor failures, traction motor failures ( with the option to cut one or more out ) The list could go on and on depending on exactly how "Real" MS wanted to get with it. Just an addition to an already good idea.TxBritt
i like the idea of startups n shutdowns...but i think that much more of us would just like to see some AI traffic and extra railcars on sidings to play around with when you explore the route... that alone would make it much more fun for me...
>but i think that much more of us would just like to see some >AI traffic and extra railcars on sidings to play around >with when you explore the route... that alone would make it >much more fun for me... Download Port Ogden & Northern from the file library. You can do this very thing.-Jeff
>4. Shutdown Unit >5. Start Unit >6. Ground Relay Reset If you download the Class 08 sounds from UKTS. They have this feature by using the "B" bell button to simulate startup and shut down effects. But it is only a sound effect. So the train will still move when the train has "shut down".
-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!----- Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it. Eh, where did my signature go? Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it. Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool(and the Filling tool!)! It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet. Anyway, I warned you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...
Personally I'd like to see more realistic failures. Run over amps for too long, your traction motors burn up. Diesel engine efficiency tied to altitude. Turbo failures. Engine failures. Use too much Brake air, you can't stop. A realistic amount of time for air to rebuild. Broken knuckles, requiring repair and most of all: The ability to couple and uncouple without the stupid game ending uncouplings! And as a Presenter for Operation Lifesaver, the ability to see what it's like for an engineer when a car goes around the crossing gates!CPL
