Mulltiplayer is a must for this community to grow. I usually wont even buy a game if I cant play with other people. It brings more to the table when you can have team objectives to accomplish. I think that MS should look into maybe making MSFS and MSTS a interchangeable package.
Say flight sims are your thing, Have it so you get 5 or 10 cities in the default game. You could only play the flight sim but could see us using the trains using MSTS.
Or say trains sim is your thing you would get the same 5 or 10 default cities. You could only play the trains sim.
Of course if you got both you could play either or but in the end even if you only had one it be cool to see planes flyin and trains drivin.(LOL I already see us getting buzzed by some noob in a piper cub.)It also be nice if they built this on an engine that was capable of using the old stuff from MSTS and have a solid foundation for future improvements in technolgy that can be added on instead of starting from scratch.I think the best thing they could do is build an acurate model of the earth. And acuratly lay the mainlines that run interstate and intercontenental and also the major airports maybe even the highways too. So say you get the packaged deal. You could run ur trains through all five cities or just be based in one city setting up cuts of cars for someone to come pick up and take to another city. Then when you want to do your own route you could make it and put it up somewhere for people to download. And the multiplayer game would be set up so that say you and your friend are playing in Philadelphia PA. Someone joins the game and they have Somewhere,MD. Your friend has the Somewhere, MD route but you dont. But youd still be able to interact with somewhere md. The activites would be made up and you could choose what to do from a screen. You work the philadelphia yard and set cars for your friend to take to Somewhere, MD. I could talk all day about this. Here in philly theres so many things you could do. Ride the el on the frankford 69th st train. run the subways that go up broad and down to the sports complex. amtrak regional lines run right through the city. They even are connected to the airport. LOL if your late on a passenger run you could hold up someones flight. Theres the PATCO line that runs from center city over the Ben Franklin bridge into camden and into south jersey. And the penn line runs parrel to the NE Corridor. A lillte north up from center city those penn lines run into NJ. i think they should concentrate on doing major cites that you can have a choice of what to do. In philly you could run 5 different things wither it be passenger or freight. Wether you want to switch cars in the yard or run the patco from NJ and back.So if they made it so there were 5 based cities each with their own activities. plus capable of interactivites with the other 4 cities. That would be great. The multiplayer game could just never end. You could run off dedicated servers and get reports from the nights before and new work orders for whatever day of the week it is. So that way people could come and go and start activites and what they didnt finish could either be finishes automatically after they leave the game or be set up for you to finish as an activity. They could have daily news papers. You could see if anyone has gotten their train or plane into any kind of trouble. And remember all this would be multiplayer and maybe even working MSFS and MSTS together. If they were to add multiplayer the community would grow 10 fold. I bet lots of people never even heard of MSTS and dont get it. But alot more people would be exposed if they saw us in their MSFS drivin our trains. That and when you talk to others while ur playing you all learn more and can help keep this great game going.

Yes we'd all love to see this a perfect game, but the stuff you're hanging out for so unreasonable it's not funny.Plus, you know, we've heard this all before.Koz

Koz, I agree. This is about as ridiculous an idea as when old Orville and Wilber came up with their lunatic ideas. The stuff they were hanging out was so unreasonable it wasn't even funny...man fly...what lunacy. And you know, the people back then, they too had heard it all before, hundreds of times by other similar lunatics all who had failed miserably. When will people ever learn to keep these ideas to themselves?

Yeah but look where we are now with jet aircraft streaking overhead at irregular intervals, I'll bet old Orville and Wilbur never dreamed that. In my opinion the day that people stop sharing idea's and concepts is the day that the world dies. It doesn't matter what idea and no matter how outrageous it is if enough people can believe in it than it will more than likely happen.

RE: Was just thinking...

No Im not asking much. Think about it, 15 years ago frogger was the #####. Now look at it compared to the games of today. I think 15 years from now you wont be able to tell the differance between playing a game or watching tv. Because the graphics will be so good.
My idea really isnt that far out there. Im sure MS developers have thought about doing the game along the same lines as me, its just gonna take time for the technology to catch up. In fact they probally could start developing the game today the only problem is the average consumer wouldnt have the right equipment to play the game. And well Im going into the Army,I go to basic on March 3 and I dont expect to be playing games for at least 3 years. So I cant wait to see where pc games are then. I bet anyone in this forum in 5 years there will be a trainsim game with multiplayer capabilites that will allow you to run based in a city and across the country. With the option to do passenger or frieght runs. Them adding FS and TS as one would be just eye candy. But as far as the trains sim its gonna happen.

RE: Was just thinking...

Also more complex activity could be done which aren't possible with AI trains (like attaching cars while waiting at a station)
Also some kind of ranking must be created, at the beginning you are only allowed to drive small engines on local runs, but if you don't create any accident you can work up to driving the long trains...
(It wouldn't be funny to have several derailement every day because a newbie just drove to fast)

RE: Was just thinking...

This is one of the stupidest things i have ever heard, and i have heard of Prince Charles, and we all know that he is a right Royal pain in Englands backside. Now let me get this straight, you want to be able to run a train and a plane in an online world and have virtual citys.Right, so are you prepared to pay £1000 daily subscrption fee, because not only would nobody want to play that game, it sounds absolutely boring and atrocious.MSTS & MSFS are two totally different SIMULATORS, if you want to fly a plane, you do so in FS, if you fancy a run down to Brighton in a 4CIG then you boot up TS, we dont need an Online version of Train Sim just yet, because if we had that, then somebody would be lumped with the task of Signalman, controlling 50 different people who talk back to you may sound fun, and i wouldnt mind a go, but when you get over your head, then you will get people complaining because you are making them wait 10-15 minutes whilst you sort out the problem you have created in St Pancras International. This will never happen, and if you want something in MSTS2 then why nott bolt yourself to the ground, and start breathing real air for once, not Mirage Inducing air.

Hammerwich, coming soon for Trainz Railway Simulator 2004, not just for BVE anymore!

On the Hoodgam route, you should be able to see planes flying in the air!

-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!-----
Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it.
Eh, where did my signature go?
Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it.
Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool(and the Filling tool!)!
It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet.
Anyway, I warned you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...
