Reason for Bashing MSTS 2 ALREADY? – image 1

Um.. something I noticed... it's only been a couple of days.. yet you guys are ALREADY bashing the new sim, and you've ONLY SEEN 8 Screen shots. So what reason does Microsoft have to bother continuing this game if you don't know crap about it. You don't know the sys specs, and if you can magically think that you know what they are, then woot woot to you.Lay off the game until we get some more information, it's a freakin' new game for crying out loud, JUST LIKE MSTS 1 was, if all you are going to do is cry, moan, and complain that it isn't to YOUR liking, keep it in your head for now.2 cents...

RE: Reason for Bashing MSTS 2 ALREADY?

Agreed. Until someone hears from an offical source, sorry a friend of a friend of a friend that lives next door to someone who works for the ( oh you get it), with some answers to the wild speculation that is going on, I am going to plod ahead with the route building that I have in progress. If it don't work in TS2, then so be it, I'll deal with TS1 vs. TS2 decision at that time.Bill

Who's Bashing? I know I commented about the lack of rail joints on the pennsy route, and said I hope they resolve that. And you replied to my msg and basically said the same thing your saying here, And while I respect your opinion, Brian, I gotta tell ya, Bash was not my intention, Pointing out the obvious was, I could have said "Damn, MSTS2 looks really stupid, Blam that piece of crap for no rail joints!" But thats not what I was trying to say, Just wanted to point out the obvious, But In retrospect maybe I was a bit hasty to start counting rivets (or lack of) Therefor, I take back the comment I said, Hopefully you wont hold a grudge against me for that misunderstanding, I'll talk to you on msn soon.

Well, at least there will be a Swiss Re465 that'll fall under that cathegory (the type was introduced in 1993 I think)(the Re465 is the blue electric loco on the last screenshot on the official site)

RE: Reason for Bashing MSTS 2 ALREADY?

Speculation is caused by lack of information. Even that has it's own implications. I for one am looking forward to seeing msts2. From the screenies it looks pretty impressive. The resolution looks to be up a bit and what they have said about the dynamic weather and enviroment well that could be very cool. The things that people have been pleading for though have not been mentioned in the press release. No one wants to trod on old ground but it seems to me that the best way to sell something is to give the customer what they want.I gotta think they are here looking around if not posting from time to time. So it's not unrealistic to expect them to know what that is. Weather or not they can make that happen is up to them. If they turn there back on the customers they already have in favour of finding new ones well they are welcome to try but I don't think it's a good stratagy. You have seen the outright shear force that is there customer base here at TS.COM and to ignore them would be folly I'm thinking. They have pushed the outside of the MSTS envelope more times then can be counted. They are they're greatest fan. Making things work that really shouldn't by all other accounts. These people need respect more then anything else from the people that made this program in the first place. Given that anything they do will be welcomed. It's not critisism it's hope we have...Ronson

Hi, now that Microsoft Train Simulator 2 has been announced....I have a few suggestions. First...Is the game going to be compatible with MSTS1 user created add-ons? If it's not..its probably a safe bet that you will lose A LOT of customers. From the screenshots on gamespot.com I see that the rails are now 3D, which will make conversion of routes harder, but the engines and rollingstock should be kept 100% compatible.

Second...The Route Editor. This is a hard program to get into...so much stuff to learn...I realize there are some people who can make sense of the current RE, but for most.. Could you make a 2D overhead shot of the world while laying track? I think that would be better.....and then go to the 3D view (the view in the current RE) to place scenery and stuff. You could include two versions..the old one (for the experts) and this way (for the beginners).

Thirdly, is MSTS2 going to be as hard on the computers as MSTS1 was? I could never get smooth framerates...and I have a fairly good computer.

And lastly, If you REALLY want to know what the majority of customers would like to see in the new game visit www.train-sim.com and go to the MSTS message boards...That will inform you about bugs and fixes that need to be made...improvements...and lots of other good ideas!

Thanks for reading this mail. Please e-mail me answers to my questions if you can.
-Jay Brooks

BTW: Is KUJU still doing the the game...or is TrainArtisan? The screenshots look alot like TA's work!So.....at the page where you send your comments..it says NOTHING about whether these are curretn porgrams or future porgrams...I think this was an automatic respond thing...person read the first line, saw it said MSTS2 and clicked a button and I got a fake robot eamil....safe bet thats what happened. And I qoute:
"Build Customer Trust And Value By Providing A Quality Experience The First Time, Every Time."
Delighting our customers is our top priority."Delightning customers is a priority? Wow....Im not delighted...i actually laughed at that sentence.
Now I know they couldnt answer ALL my questions but they could have taken my suggestions....Anyways.maybe im being hard on them but my dad always says...keep good customer relations....No reason to BASH MSTA2...im just bashing M$!
The screens DO loook impressive, and I want this game..but im Peeved @ M$ right now.

RE: Reason for Bashing MSTS 2 ALREADY?

Well:COMPATIBILITY WITH MSTS 1 IS NOW OFFICIAL!Moving PeopleDynamic WeatherBetter Tracks and Graphicsand more......................I'm definitely not complaining. And I agree with the author of this topic (sorry forgot to look at the name). People who moan and groan ( and there are very few) at this stage should be shot. It's human nature to wish for things and beg and hope to god and all the things that makes a new release fun, but to complain at this stage is ludicrous. I would challenge those people to MAKE THE DAMN GAME THEMSELVES. Personally, I don't come from anywhere near where all the MSTS 1 routes were, and haven't used any of the trains, and I think they did a bloody good job! For most people, this should be the case. Nobody would have gotten the entertainment and oppportunities they have if it weren't for Microsoft and Kuju and they should be commended for the work on MSTS 1. Of course there were bugs as per any program, and I'm sure they'll take it on board to do what they can to resolve these issues which I'm sure many people have pointed out to them. That's all I can say.Koz.-------------------------------------FORMERLY 'THE KOZIOL' BEFORE THE STUPID DELETED ACCOUNTS THING30 RANDOM NORTH KOREANS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AS A RESULT

RE: Reason for Bashing MSTS 2 ALREADY?

It's just that we all have been saying over and over to infinitem what has to be fixed. I'm sure they know so it's up to them. I was hoping for some mention of the editors in their release but notta. I can understand it may be a sensative issue being that they were not the greatest from the get go. This should spur them on to make the editors better. More content can only increase sales and the content is coming from the people that have to work with the less then workable editors. So - fixing the editors = more sales. Not a big deal for microsoft I suppose.I don't doubt that it's hard to write such a sim. Many variables and all in motion at nearly the same time. I have to say they did a great job on the first one. Things could have been better but that's nearly always the case with software especially a new sim. It's the workforce here at TS.COM that has made so many things in the sim possible. They have pushed and pulled this sim into the shape that it is now. Far beyond I think what MS had ever hoped it would be. Look at the Big Boy for instance. Worked on for months to get it to work. I'm not going to say that no assistance was offered from MS as I don't know but do you think the job would have been easier if it wereI'm hoping that the work will get easier to do. To make this sim the best it can be. So many places for improvement. It's growth is well assured. From my perspective. I've spent most of my life as a railfan. I study railroads like an astronomer studies the stars. I never had a chance to work for the railroads but if the chance was there it would not have been passed by. I'm thinking this is the case for most people here at TS.COM. If you look at the amount of work that had be spent on FS (Flight Sim). They are also a dedicated group. They to have a workforce but they have the tools to get the job done. It's in MS's power to make this happen if they wish to make there program the best it can be - From a quality standpoint they should demand no less.If it's bashing to hope that the things that were left wanting aren't still left wanting in the next edition well I guess that could be bashing. I hope they have fixed the editors or even improved them. I rank the editor repair or rebuild as the most important part. It may not be the most important part for everyone to be sure but think of what the sim would be like if you could build what you like without fear of crash.Ronson
