From what I've heard about the new version it seems like not a full version upgrade. This is of course from what I have heard. It may turn out that things are still in the pipe but as yet they aren't sure if they can impliment so they are leaving them out of the anouncemnet so as to not bring everyone down should they not appear.I like eye/candy to be sure and horseshoe pass seems intriging. I have seen a few videos of it and it's an impressive local. However it means far more to me if they would fix the editors. Just doing that would warrent the expense of the new purchase. I have no doubt that GMAX will come bundled with MSTS2 as it should seeing as it is now apart of the sim. Perhaps if they were to intigrate GMAX further to include route design and build a converter so that the designed route can be imported simular to the loco's and cars. They could also use this as a design tool for the cabs aswell. You could design the whole locomotive from start to finish and import the whole thing with camera positions layed out in GMAX and carried into the locomotive. This could save so much in building and then having to rebuild the cabs. This would also make the cabs visable from the 'outboard' camera's as they are already part of the loco.I'm hoping that when they increase the amount of animation available it will make it possible to have full yards. Driving a train with nothing in the yards is pretty depressing. You feel like it's the last run or something. Make the railroads work, give them yards with cars. Perhaps even trains being made up and so on.This may sound silly but when you look at your loco moving about put an engineer in the seat. Perhaps a customizable one. Not only is it against the rules for a loco to be moving without one it looks very odd. You could perhaps even include a conductor/breakman in the fireman's seat if you would like..? If you've seen any of the sports games out there or even FS2002 this is not a problem..The dynamic weather sounds intriging aswell. This is one area were train handling can be tricky and is well worth the inclusion. I for one am looking forward to seeing this implimented.I'm hoping that they concentrate on the rail actions more then just giving us more to look at. From what they have said so far it seems like the rail operation are being left behind in favour of more eyecandy. I don't mind more eyecandy but it's not the most important part. Make what people are using easy to use (the editors) or completely replace them with a new concept (GMAX). Build a railway sim the simulates railway work - There is much that can be added in that area I hope they don't leave it behind...?Ronson

RE: Hoping it's not MSTS 1.9

I may be wrong but this time Kuju seems to have farmed out some if not all of the route and stock work to 3rd parties. If this is the case there is hope that they have been able to concentrate their main resources on upgrading the game engine, physics, operation etc.. I think we'll find a lot more out once E3 begins, though it's fun guessing.

All you have to do is make an engineer or whatever crewperson you like in a 3D package. Add the crewperson to your loco or car using the Freightanim( person.s 1 1 ) command.

RE: Hoping it's not MSTS 1.9

You must be a Gordon Lightfoot fan. I love the 'Railroad trilogy' Great tune. Anyway I know it can be done all you have to do as build the loco and build the engineer and then put the to together. There are so many things though. Lighting in the cab for instance. I know they didn't think it was a big deal but they needed to have the lights turned down when in night ops. A switch to turn the ditch lights from steady - flashing - alternating. That could have saved quite a bit of time. I won't even go into the radio gear.I'm not knocking what they did. It's a great job and I have to commend them in many area's despite some of the things that should have been working much better out of the shoot 'Namely the editors'.The one thing I remember from watching training of real rail employees is that it's a since to drive a train when everything is working well. They train the employees to deal with problems. These problems can be on the track or on the locomotive or the cars or with other trains. The sims are for that to an extent as they can't actually use the real item to do what they wish to simulate. That's not to say that the sim should be full of problems for the user to solve while moving freight or passengers but equipment will break down from time to time and this requires some thought as to how to deal with it.MSTS1 is a great springboard from which we have all scene what can be accomplished. I'm hoping the bar will again be set at a new hight. I'm also hoping for more things that can be added via the new and improved editors. They haven't mentioned the editors but I'm hoping they are new and improved I will settle for just good working order but like I said springboard -- They can add so much it would be a shame if they leave the improvements to only the sim itself.Ronson
