Good evening trainaholics!! If you go to www.gamespot.com, you will be able to see a short preview of what type of things to expect from MSTS 2. From what I hear, there will be a way to drive trains from the 1950's. Sounds very interesting! If anyone has anything further to add, please let me know if you hear anything else about this new "Route!"

You honestly must have no idea how many times we see some excited newbie come bursting in, thinking they deserve a medal for revealing rivetting new information to everybody about MSTS 2. However, if they would care to browse the forum or check on the site for how old the information is, they would realise that we are already well informed about most of the important properties of MSTS 2. Allow me to fill you in on the info you need:The new routes will be as follows:HorseShoe Curve (American, Steam)
Cologne DBAG (German, Electric)
Somerset & something or other (British, Steam)
A Norfolk Southern line (American, Diesel)
A Swiss BLS Line (Switzerland, Electric)
A Japanese line (Era unknown)Routes and Rolling stock will be compatible, activities will not.New features include:Moving people
Working turntables
'Improved' editors (integrated)
'Passenger mode'
Virtual 3D Cabs
Dynamic weatherJudging by the screenshots, graphics are improved, and I imagine that the graphics and physics engines will be improved. That's the gist of it, release date approximately for Christmas this year. In future, it might be a good idea to keep up with the news - as this is the MSTS equivalent of someone barging into the Whitehouse screaming 'the World Trade Centre was just destroyed'.
(Oh and P.S - don't come barging in with a first line of 'Good evening fellow trainaholics' - for I will personally shoot you. Have a nice day)

RE: Back in the day trains!!

Not quite! LOLSomerset or something, as you put it, is way off the mark. It aint down South, and it aint steam! While it has the most photgenic station in the UK, it isn't my idea of a good UK route either.David

RE: Back in the day trains!!

I thought you were the one who suggested it would be Somerset and Dora-whatzit, David - or am I losing it?

RE: Back in the day trains!!

I think that it possibly means that you will be able to travel as a passenger on a train, while it drives itself..(ie sort of the Introductory train rides in MSTS1)

RE: Back in the day trains!!

I never did hear of this feature in any of the previews. But if Kuju does add it, that would be cool.

- as this is the MSTS equivalent of
>someone barging into the Whitehouse screaming 'the World
>Trade Centre was just destroyed'. I know you didn't mean anything by it Koziolean, but I would appreciate it if you left comments like that out.

RE: Back in the day trains!!

Sorry, I just wanted a big news story and that was the first thing I thought of, but in my haste I did unfortunately forget to consider those closer to the disaster (as I live in Australia), and indeed those who may have lost someone. Once again my apologies.

Rather than peer down your nose and sneeringly reply as you did, why not simply and politely direct the man to the information?Bruce.

RE: Back in the day trains!!

Because if people come up here with garbage, they should receive garbage in return. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. There's eventually an end to the amount of idiots you can stand, and I have a short tether for ignorancy. Some people are patient and understanding and sympathetic and all that, and if they find that easy, than so be it. But I don't, can't and won't.

Well, I've read most of the current messages in this forum and I still haven't found an answer to my "burning questions"! Does the next version fix the abysmal file structure? Have they addressed the issue of copying every asset over and over? Having each asset duplicated for each and every route. I had over 11 gigs dedicated to MSTS when I gave up and went somewhere else. Anyone know/have any answers?
