I was thinking after I read the MSTS2 press release stating MSTS 2 used some of MSFS technology! That they could have used FS's scenery. It is pretty accurate especially in the US and combined with it's Autogen capabilities could be used in conjunction with ready availabe topography data could automate Track laying, Yes it wouldn't be 100% accurate but you could have routes across country instead of the limited routes we have now. More detailed routes could still be made like is done in FS cities. At the very least the scenry would be an excelent template for route builders to lay their track. Since MS already owns the technology and scenery, it wouldn't be a problem for them to use it in this application. Maybe in future releases you could have a combined flight and train sim. You could be flying while AI or Multiplayer controlled trains ride below or vice versa.
