Hi Everyone.Am very eagerly awaiting the arriveal of MSTS 2 but having viewed recent screen shots, I have a growing concern that I want to ask about. There seem to be a lot of steam loco screen shots going around. While I like all trains, I prefer the modern locos over the steam ones. If MSTS 2 is going to be loaded with steam locos and only a handful of modern ones, I will be disappointed. Can anyone confirm what the situation is regarding loco content and routes? I know from reading other posts that a complete route list is not available yet, but does anyone know the situation with the locos that will ship with the game? Thanks.

RE: MSTS 2 - Is it all Steam?

(until it is released, this is just speculation)I think anyone who buys MSTS 2 and just uses what comes on the CD may find the product just pleasantly amusing for awhile, and it will fade in interest after that, like MSTS 1On the otherhand, if you search out and download the hundreds (and thousands?) of free addon components and routes, or get involved in creating your own, then it can represent a considerable investment in enjoyment. There will be a modern day Norfolk Southern route included with the game, along with a European(???) electric line.

Two European Lines seem to be included in MSTS: A Line operated by Deutsche Bahn AG (German Railroads) running probably through the Ruhrgebiet Area (Germanys most densely populated area. A lot of heavy industries), and the BLS (Bern-Loetschberg-Simplon) Line, a privately owned swiss railroad that takes trains across the alps. Both routes seem to be set in the present, which means that both will be electric.

In another post someone asking for AC traction. In my opinion this is really unimportant, but implementation of safety systems like LZB or Sifa or TVM 450 will greatly enhance the feeling of "As real as It gets".Adam

There'll also be a Japanese diesel line, and some rumours have it that the UK route will be set in the steam-diesel transition era (for the UK that'd probably be around 1960?) and feature both a steam and a diesel loco.

RE: MSTS 2 - Is it all Steam?

Thanks. Good to know there will be more modern locos and routes then I initially thought. I hope to be able to make my own routes for MSTS 2 too. I couldn't master the tools in version 1, hopefully version 2 will be much simplified.
