Actually the real question here is..... is there going to be a "NEW" Graphics Engine, if they plan on using the Same one "Hopefully not" then the graphics will be the same as in the First MSTSRobert Steskal Philadelphia, Pa
Well, since I just ordered my new Athlon XP 2500 and ASUS A7N8X main board plus 512 megs of PC-333 RAM earlier this week, I hope this equipment will prep me well enough for TS 2. Later this summer, I shall be looking for a new vid card as well, and will be aiming for a Radeon 9200, 9500 or 9700, depending on the funding I'll have at hand at that time. Get two sticks of 512...you won't regret it. Also if you do have two sticks, make sure you put them in slots 1 and 3, that way you can take full advantage of the N and S bridges on the board. If you put them in 1 and 2 it buggers stuff up.
It's my belief that the only reason MSTS's specs were so harsh is because it's gaming engine is an inefficient piece of crap. It needs brute force to try and compensate for the lack of programming finesse. There's no reason it should behave as bad as it does when people are throwing 2.6gHz processors with a gig of RAM and a vid card with 128MB of RAM at it! These systems eat the even the newest 3D games that are much more system intensive than MSTS for lunch. They should have MSTS tap dancing, but as we know it's still a pig.Hopefully they've learned a bit by now, and the system specs for MSTS won't be outlandish.-Jeff
Couldn't agree with you more! With the performance of MSTS in mind I thought I would have a hard time with Unreal-2 (performance wise that is) but then I realized it was just MSTS.
Absolutely right. The problem is connected with the inefficient graphics engine, speciffically the annoying pausing during the play. There is no help with the fastest CPU. I've installed P4 3.06 GHz on Asus P4T533-C with 512MB RDRAM 1066 but this gave no improvment what so ever. I'm waiting for ATI Radeon 9800 Pro with great expectations for some smoothing, but I know that maybe Cray Supercomputer will be able to overcome this problem. Complete rewriting of the core engine would be the main improvement in MSTS 2.Adam
