I was just thinking that looked sorta like their 4-8-2 Mountains, but w/ more details... like even the couplers..........
notice...one of the first smokeless steam engines....
didn't TA also just come out w/ a new 'puffier' smoke... may have been a part intended for the above engine--or just a betaI think the above images may also infer a 'working' turntable - mabeyMatt

Dominik,You reckon those houses on the background of the BLS 465 are Swiss?
I was just wondering if that was a typical building style and you're living closer to Switzerland than I do I guess I had just some doubts about that place so if you've got an answer that would be great! And post a reply that is

Richard,the houses definitely look European, city style (not old town, not mountain villages, the latter are still more like on MSTS 1 default Europe 1, Orient Express route). Seemingly no gantries yet, these would give away a lot about the location, with each country having its own gantry style & sometimes shade of color. On the other hand, when I think about the MSTS 1 "gantries", I still need to see an improvement for MSTS 2 So yes, that BLS could be sitting on "Swiss" tracks. And if M$ really does the BLS route from Bern via Loetschberg Pass down to Brig, that will be a very scenic route:First: Quite a sizeable station & yards at Berne (Swiss Capital)
Second: Circa 45 km / 30mi of rather straight, fast running track through rolling countryside.
Third: Begin a climb of circa 50 km from roughly 1500ft to 4000ft above sea level, with some nice viaducts, helicidal tunnels. Then an 8-10 minute run at full throttle through a straight alpine tunnel to the Southern side of the alps.
Fourth: A 30 minute descent along a very steep cliff into the Valais valley in Southeastern Switzerland, lots of breath-taking views, with drops of over 2000ft to the side of the track.
Five: Arrive at Brig - perhaps, if M$ is generous, continue through Simplon tunnel for another couple dozen miles towards Italy, perhaps to the town of Domodossola (generally "vulgarized" simply to Domo by train crews and enthusiasts) where there is another large transfer yard for freight, for Italian engines and crews to take over the trains.
BLS Re 465-016 in the Valais valley, with the typical steep mountain grades of that particular valley carved by the river Rhône, albeit not (repeat) not on the Loetschberg track, but on SBB Swiss Federal Railways track. It's in charge of a EC Eurocity train Geneva - Lausanne - Brig - Milano (Italy).Along the way, the BLS system would actually also have a number of branch lines, which I do not expect to be included with MSTS.Total route length: circa 120 km / 80 miles, running time for a passenger express train ca 90 minutes to Brig, a little more if the section to the border is included. Prototypically, the route sees:
Hourly express passenger trains.
Hourly commuter / local passenger trains over portions of the route
2-3 heavy freight trains each way per hour
Half hourly car shuttle trains through the Loetschberg tunnel (no road across the pass). So there would be room for quite some traffic in activities...Hope I teased you well Swissie

Has anybody noticed that the turntable operator in the first picture doesn't have a left hand? He has an arm, but no fingers or knuckles or anything that looks like a hand. They call him "Leftie" maybe?Bing

For those out there not sure of the PRR Locomotive: It is a PRR Class M-1a #6755. It must be TA Texturing, as it is far too good looking to be a Microsoft Skin. On a note, the TA Mountain, and the PRR Class M-1a bear no resemblance to each other. The M1as featured a standard wood and metal pilot during their early years until after WWII, when most were refitted with a boiler plate pilot fitted with a drop coupler. These were their last modification before they were retired in October of 1957. These, unlike other locomotives of the same type, also featured a PRR Characteristic: a Belpaire Firebox that provided plenty of area where it was needed. If those pictures are from the PRR Horseshoe Curve (Middle Division) then Microsoft chose the best engine for that region, as most M1 and M1as operated here and on the Pittburgh Division. The passenger cars in the picture appear to be PRR Class P70 Coaches, with a B60b Class Baggage car. Please let me know also if I am correct... Again, thanks in advance

The rails on the turntable seem to stop at the wrong place. The fixed rails should run right up to the edge of the pit. Some designs had a regular wood tie embedded in the concrete. Others (for more modern heavier locos) used a steel plate bolted into the concrete. A few designs also had a special locking device set in between the rails to recieve the table locking plate.Sure hope the turntable is customizable to allow changes to match the period and operation. Narrow gage and short lines often used "Armstrong" tables (manual operation). Also, the traction guys would probably want an end of line table if the decide to model a cable car operation.
