I'm sure it wouldn't have to be hard coded into the game, maybe just a different tender and different coloured smoke maybe...Looks Like a Pony RUNS LIKE A STALLION
September 11th, 2001: I stand united! Peace to those who perished... R.I.P
Currently we can add an oil tender and a different smoke color, but for those who like to be their own fireman oil firing can not be truly simulated as there is no support for oil firing controls. Currently the fire fuel rate is changed by the amount of coal shoveled. On an oil burner the fire is controled by the firing valve and the controls on the fireman's manifold. The firing valve controls the amount of oil flow, also of great importance is the atomizer valve (on the manifold) which controls the amount of steam pressure that pushes the oil through the burner. Other controls on the valve include the oil heaters, even under normal conditions bunker c is to thick to flow without being heated. Under extreme cold weather conditions the oil requires even more steam flowing to the heater. While it might not seem to important to simulate something such as the heater if struggling to get a drag freight up a hill with a poor steaming boiler, every little bit of steam tapped off can take its toll.
Wood burning is already supported. I have posted sound files and instructions for changing the .eng files in the library for converting locos. Oil burning is not yet supported. I found a series of variables for setting up oil burners but they have not been implemented in the current version. It shows, though, that what is required has already been thought about.
