Do you think that the RE will be any easier, or just as hard or even harder than the last one. I as well as others would like route building to be a tad bit easier, but with the variety of tutorials we have now, they have made it easier to understand. A lot better than the tutorials that come with the game.

RE: Out of speculation

They say it'll be better, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.I don't think they could manage to make it any worse. -Jeff

RE: Out of speculation

I sure hope it does. Im not talking about the just pick and choose type, but you know, some degree of difficulty but nothing you have to go to school to learn how to use. Sort of like the activity editor. Its not hard to use, but its not just too easy when it comes to setting up paths, etc. And I agree it cant get any worse. lol

RE: Out of speculation

If you could work from maps inserted into MSTS Route Editor, with contour lines that would generate the heights, that would suit me fine.Similar to the method I use in another sim, trace over the contour lines to obtain the heights, then generate a greyscale map, then create terrain. If it was all within the same program in a few easy stages then RE would be a treat to use. Barry

Easier never gets old. Like writing a story by hand as opposed to a word processor. The writing doesn't change just the speed of its delivery.Ronson

>Making major changes could alienize people who are currently master route builders though... less crashing would be all I want!I am not too concerned about that. I would call myself an expierenced route builder (not a veteran because I never uploaded a route). I still have a lot to learn. I figure that unless they totaly redo it, that it would be the same fundementaly. If it is not, hey! I learned RE 1! I could lean RE 2 too! Thanks!

The official word out of E3 is that the editor package and specifically the route editor have been "significantly improved". Wonder what that means...Cal Rasmussen

They've dropped the send/don't send window?Seriously tho, aside from making the darn thing reliable the best feature they could add is to allow the user to directly enter numeric values when desired. I think it obscene they left the rotate and move functions as mouse and/or arrow key driven while at the same time behind the UI they're converting everything to numnbers for storage in the files. Display the darn numbers! Let them be editable!Dave Nelson Out of speculation – image 9 Aug 1950
