Heres an item everyones overlooked for MSTS 2

Morning all,If this has been mentioned and I missed it I apologize.However..... I see all of these " wish list's " for MSTS-2 of which some has been confirmed and others people are still hoping for.Now I got to thinking. Multiplayer - would be a great addition.
Turntables - I probably will rarly use.
Moving Passengers @ platforms - I personaly think is very cool.NOW !!How about a working " Hump Yard "This could be WAY more handy than a turntable. Can you imagine the activity possibilities ??Kevin would be a very busy man !!Just a thoughtLaterTim Kent

Tim - I don't think Kuju pople would know what you are meant if you mentioned "hump yard". More likely they would think it was something you don't talk about in polite company.People who know them verify what we've believed all along: Kuju personnel do not know how railroads are run. I've heard some of them actively dislike railroading. The last must be labelled rumor, but not the first.Bing

I wonder how would the physics be changed, you'd have to throw switches real fast, stopping starting etc. I beleive that it would be a task doing that. But it would be nice to have a hump yard.
Humpin aint easy, but its necesary.

I agree. Switching would need to be greatly improved to even think of a hump yard.To make it feasible, you would need some sort of "switching table" that showed the status of all the switches in the yard. Maybe a track schematic of the yard with switches shown by colored lights. Just click on the switch you want to line.It would really suck if you didn't realize you've missed a switch until after you've humped. They would also need to improve the uncoupling aspect. It's a bit of a kludge trying to "kick" cars with the system they have now.I think a hump yard could be pretty fun if they did it right.-Edit: Grammar.-Jeff

Plus also the getting it down to 4 mph would be hard to do also. because when a car sails down the hump, and couples up at about 25 mph, it is sure to derail. I guess its some things we will have to do without i guess.

As such an important part of modern railroading, I can't see it being neglected forever but it's going to take time to incorporate everything. Perhaps one of the key factors could be MS ditching Kuju and getting someone that actually has a clue about railroading. For now though, I think we all should be satisfied with ANY improvements we're offered and just be happy that MSTS has passed the initial test and moved on to a second version. Personally, the editors are what I would be happiest to see improved upon.Ray

Microsoft train Simulator 2 need a radio (Just like the ATC in FS2002 when you can reply and request). In real life train Driver talk to the people at the main headbase. the railroad system is run in one location the USA. They control the tracks and how fast a train should go ect......

I always get a kick out of seeing train cars with "DO NOT HUMP" signs on them. I know railfans' love for railcars can be fanatical sometimes but you've gotta draw the line somewhere....

I come to this forum to look for updated screenshots, info and official announcements, not unhelpful pleas for this and that in the game. If you don't like my attitude, thats too bad. This is one that I don't think I have seen mentioned. The ability to start an activity at any place in it. TrainMaster has this, though I don't know about Trainz. This would be especially helpful for activity designers. Any of you out there feel like throwing the game away when you are trying to get a meet to work that is 3 hours into an activity and this is the third, fourth or more times you have run it.

Would be a nice feature, as long as the "fast forward" can take any switching into account.....Let's say, using Marias Pass as an example, I want to start at the summit heading towards Shelby, but the activity starts at Whitefish and does some switching near the mainline & Kalispell branch line junction. The fast forward would have to automatically process this switching (and any other switching between the real start and your chosen start) for the rest of the activity to make sense and actually work....Would be tricky....

I usually keep out of posts like these but I thought I would voice my two cents on the matter with BNSF 4723.I looked at your profile then went into the FL here and searched your name just to see if you have done anything constructive for the train simming community. Four files showed up but only one had a pic attached and it was too dark to see what the file was anyway. I happen to know that having a file w/o a pic only leaves people to believe that if the author didn't take the time to attach a pic, the file must be pretty "crappy". I know that on my last upload, I totally forgot to attach a pic, but when you do it to multiple files, it still leaves that "crappy" impression with many people.That's all.*Edited for clarity*Austin S.

I didn't attach a pic to my latest upload (Afternoon Congressional), but it still had 136 downloads. I didn't have time to take a pic because I had school. I'll try to attach pics with future downloads as I have 3 months before my next day of school. Just because it doesn't have a pic doesn't mean that everyone will think that it's a bad file. If people liked your previous work, they should download that specific file, with or without a pic. My first activity, for the Lehigh Valley Line, was a miserable faliure because I had no prior experience. My second activity, Morning Congressional, was a success, and I attached a pic to that one. It also worked a lot better than my previous Lehigh Valley activity. My latest activity ranked 4th in downloads without a pic. I'll make more and put in pics, but you might have to wait until the AEM7 arrives for more NEC activities, as I probably will not do Penn Central. I prefer to show the corridor in its better days of operation.

That would be great for MSTS2. This can currently be done in Trainz, but there are no retarders to slow the cars down. Do you have any thoughts on how the switch throwing would work and retarders would work for MSTS2?

You would have to have a section of track that would be for retardation. The big problem I see with humps are the size and complexity of the yard itself. They are massive things. Mostly controlled by computer. Okay we are using a computer so you would have to have a 'Hump Yard Window' when operating. The retarders could be automatic. It's the switching that needs to be set somewhat. You could pick a car to be sent up the hump and a destination track for it to arrive at. Push it over release the car and let the computer do the rest. Perhaps a way to place the camera on the active car as right now when you release the camera follows the train.I think it would be cool aswell. But the size of the yards could be a problem along with the roads that use them -- they aren't at every yard you know.Ronson

Yes, a Hump yard would be nice! My dad won't let me say the word, so I call it a Bump Yard. I have a plan on the one at Proviso so that it would work, but only for AI.Thanks!

And if my memory is correct (that's a big hope!) they often had a bit of a twist or curve at the peak, so not only did you get a sharp change of direction vertically (up change to down rather suddenly), but you also had a nice horizontal direction change at the same time (20 - 30 degrees left or right). Much fun if taken fast - much panick if taken even faster There was one of those near where I spent many of my younger years, crossing the Pickadilly Line near Sudbury Town Station.CheersJohn (now in Canada)
