Can anyone explaing the left-handed issue that comes up when coding
objects for BVE? Am I to assume that the coordinates of the points
get larger going counter-clockwise? I understand this has something
to do with Direct3d too? I am starting to actually put pen to notepad
and try to figure out hand coding of objects. Thanks! Christopher

What you've asked doesn't quite make sense to me.Have you checked out Alfred Barten's b3d object investigations? They could probably prove very useful.http://www.alfredbarten.com is the place! If that doesn't make sense or you've been there, re-explain the problem and I'll try to help.Tim Frost

HAPPY NOW? It's not moving anymore.
It's still the same train but in another livery, that's all.

RE: Left handed coding.

Why would you want to use a left hand set of axes anyway? You must use right handed ones to work, or you will confuse yourself and others!

Well that's what I was asking for. I was going through Mackoy's
site with the translator and I ran into it somewhere. Christopher

You can use the Object editor at www.damaya.mm.vu

That squirrel may look cute, but he is our only protection against routes ripped off from other authors. He will destroy all of these routes authors. HAHAHAHAHAHA

>Never used it, sorry.
>I am downlaoding it to see what it is about I will tell you
>if I get anywhere.... It's in Japanese. I remember Richard Gellman was working on one as well. But the object would be stationary, not like Structure Viewer, where it lets you pan around the object.

RE: Left handed coding.

As mentioned, select the thing (face, unit, vertex) you are going to work with before doing anything. Save after every change. This not only saves you when the program crashes, it seems to cut down on the crashes. I guess maybe because the editor works on the saved csv file(?). If you are in the edit section, click on the bottom right hand button to save. See Picture. You still have to hand edit a lot of stuff, but this seems to make it a little easier, because you can see what you are doing.

I'm downloading it now. I get the same thing, Run Time Error - 9,
subscript out of range. I'll have to look at it closer later. Christopher

Open up the Structure Creator.Click Add Unit(F7) under CSV Edit II. Highlight the Unit (which will be called Unit1) in the Unit List window, and then you can Add Vertices. That seems to stop the Error 9. After that, I haven't got a clue.....

Peace,
ZB

The point about using the left-handed system is that the z-axis is positive pointing into the screen, which is how depth is created in BVE, as you know! With the right-handed system, the z-axis is negative pointing into the screen...All the best,
Robert
