I coded Cycle.Ground(1) 1;2;3;4;5;6, expecting the grounds to line up in that order which they did not do.After swapping numbers it took Cycle.Ground(1) 5;6;1;2;3;4, for them to line up from1-6.Is that normal? Can someone explain that? Thanks

RE: Cycle.Ground

Cycle.Ground – image 2

Thanks, I've received it.I admit to not have a great practic experience in Cycle (never used before), but I've done this reasoning:
- Ground is an object repeted every 25 meters that can start at position 0, 25, 50, 75 and so on (it can't be started at position 40)
- Cycle creates a fictive longer ground (in your case 6*25=150 mt long)
- If the program function that manages it is the same that manage grounds, probably your "cycled" ground can be positioned only every 150 meters and if you set it at position 0, 150, 300, 450 and so on, prbably it works as expected...Infact, if you set it at position 150 or 300 instead of 200 it does... RE: Cycle.Ground

Is this function for doing mountains or trees, etc?
Or are you cycling what the ground file texture is every 25m, and what type of land would you have that needs changing every 25m?

Objects declared as Ground are repeted during the simulation every 25 meters. Only one Ground can be active at a time. The object itself can be whatever you want: grass, river, asphalt. Can also have trees fitted on it, wy not!By example, in FGC Italian narrow line, portions of mountains at the sides of the track are ground objects.Luigi Cartello

RE: Cycle.Ground

I wanted to make a 150m slope that paralled the track.I couldn't make it as one freeobject because a freeobject will disappear after 25m,so I made it in 6 25m pieces.I could set them as 6 freeobjects in a row or 6 seperate grounds in a row,but cycle allows me to set all 6 in a row with one command instead of 6.After 150m I give another ground command to stop the cycle. If not the cycle will repeat every 150m.

If you made it from -125m to 25m on the z-axis and place it further down the route file, the effect is correct. The only probelm with this is when people are running at 200m drawing distance, things can seem to suddenly appear, so in this case the whole peice would appear when the train reaches 75m away from the start of the object.Hope that makes sense.

>And smikes's cycle.ground choice is just a better method to avoid to see the object popping up suddenly in the rest of the scenery already formed. Luigi Cartello

RE: Cycle.Ground

Thanks for telling me that;I did not realize it.I suppose that could be useful if you want to make an object of one piece thats somewhat longer than 25m but not a large amount like what I needed.

Cycle is what helped me to create the cityspace on my blue line.It can also create rolling landscape and such, or a slope, as in their cases. Tim Frost
